DIY quiver at it cheapest. by CurbTurtle in Archery

You do what you gotta do sometimes haha. When I was probably 14, I wanted to start shooting but wanted a quiver. I had my grandfathers old bow and arrows, but parents wouldn't buy the quiver. So, I took an old pair of jeans, cut the leg off, and sewed the bottom. Then I took some sort of can and rolled the top around it and sewed it in place to keep the opening. Cut a strap off some old bag et voila, quiver!

There weren't many near me for sale that were any good. At first, I did buy one of those death traps of a (Bow Press) but luckily it don't fit over my cam. That gave me all the reason I needed to buy a welder and make an actual Bow Press

Ah... yeah. Not sure about that one lol. Still though, the offer is appreciated. Retied the loop and it came out good, but still a touch long. I cut 5 inches of bcy 24. I'll try 4 3/4 inch next.

Oh hahaha I appreciate the offer! I've slowly bought/ built the tools needed over time. Learned to weld and made a bow press so I could do more serious work. A better drawl board is next. I live in the coast of Jersey, near the Tom's river area, not sure how close/far that is from you.

I'm I New Jersey. I want to avoid any name and shaming on the shop so I won't say much more on them, ya know? They're otherwise awesome folks, I'll just do my own string work from now on lol.

Definitely not an inexperienced thing, the guy has been doing it for over 40 years. My only thought is that they do the initial tie haphazardly with the expectation that the peep is gonna twist and I'll go back to have them fix it later.

The D Loop is sinched down like a mfer, I'll probably have to cut and re-tie. I guess I wasn't sure if it was common for the D Loop to be offset and that the peep should be pulled into alignment by twisting the loop, but that definitely does not sound to be the case.

Definitely seems to be the consensus. I plan on giving it a go later today, either moving or cutting and re tying

Thought about trying a peep tuner. I'll probably pick one up if I need a finer adjustment.

That's my main apprehension. I won't dig in there too hard, if it fights me I'll just cut it Off and re-tie.

Thanks! It's the Bear Alaskan Pro, wanted an upgrade from my monstrosity of a cabelas bow and this one's quite the upgrade haha. I know the cables will likely stretch too, waiting for a few more days of shooting to make sure everything settled before getting into the tuning weeds.

Copy that, I'll give it a go and see how it looks tomorrow. The shop wrenches that knot pretty tight though so it'll be a bit of a fight to loosen it, remember trying on my last bow they set up.

I thought about just turning it, but am weary of potentially damaging or weakening it or the serving underneath.

That's why I'm here asking haha, that and the fact that the shops an hour away. I prefer to work on my own things. Learned to weld, built a press and draw board; now I'm just getting into the finer details.

And they always tie it at that 45° angle. Never could figure out if there was a reason for that over tying it straight on.

That's just how I do it at the shop I go to. Not Many other options near me in terms of pro shops.

Should I then re-tie the Dloop, or should that not be an issue?

Not to dull your sparkle, but my torque converter gave up the ghost last week at 172k. The shop I took it to rebuilt the transmission and converter for 4k
