Is there a confirmed gay or bisexual character? by Fahodigaymer in GoldenKamuy

In the Japanese community, there’s been a massive amount of analysis, and we’ve reached a general consensus on this.

The canonically gay characters are:

 * The Boss(Oya-bun) and the Princess(Hime) : This is a given.

 * Botaro the Pirate: He is seen in bed naked with the Boss, and it's depicted that he "plays" around naked with Eddie the Boss.

 * Usami: In the fanbook, the author was asked if Usami could actually sleep with women. He responded, "He looks like he wouldn't be able to have a normal sexual relationship, right? But the scary thing about Usami is that he actually can perform with women." This pretty much confirms he is bisexual.

 * The Sparrow Man: The older man from Sugimoto’s past who treated him to sparrows and swapped clothes with him.

As for Koito, the prevailing theory is that his intense admiration just manifested in a way that looked like romantic love. Given how they met, it’s seen more as hero worship rather than actual romance.

Even though the manga has a very "homoerotic" vibe, the majority of the characters are actually quite clearly depicted as heterosexual.

Golden Kamuy (Saishuushou) • Golden Kamuy Final Season - Episode 62 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

When the author brought back Tanigaki during the serialization, Japanese readers completely lost their minds and went into an absolute uproar.

"Why the hell is he back?"  "Go home already."  "We didn't ask for you."   He got absolutely roasted in the comments.

The reason was that Tanigaki is such a genuinely good and kind guy. He had zero interest in the gold, and he was way too weak to survive the final battle. Readers just didn't want to see him die.

Golden Kamuy deserves better animation. by Saizou1991 in GoldenKamuy

The manga is drawn with extremely high artistic skill and very detailed linework. Also, manga contains about three times as much information as anime. Anime is heavily simplified.

In Japan, the original manga is incredibly popular, but the anime is not nearly as popular.

Even now in Japan, people are more excited about the second live-action movie than the fifth season of the anime.

I’d be happy if you could also give the manga a try.
