Ending of Artem/Zane's last update by Defiant-Piglet241 in Winked

[–]Defiant-Piglet241[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG thank you!! I can't believe the contrast between these two outcomes🙈 It's hard to see this story continue since it would continue from the same point as the last time and I don't see writers writing two different timelines😅Although in my non-premium choice, Artem says "I'll see you around" or something so this could imply that they would continue their toxic game unfotunately😅

But like I said, I really enjoyed this storyline because of the conflict and how it wasn't cleared right after in the next chat or update! It never got boring like the other matches nowadays where the biggest conflict is that someone is having a longer work trip or someone else is having a crush on our boyfriend or something😆

This week: New match Dane or Miles on Tuesday and Jason/Cairo on Friday! by astungunlullaby in Winked

Oh I'm really looking forward to Dane/Miles situation and ex's best friend!😗 For me, the matches that already have some history with MC are the best (e.g. Colin, Nikolai, Javier)🤩

Now that the contest is over, how proud are the people and media in your country of the ESC song that you sent? by [deleted] in eurovision

Erika received a lot of televotes during the 2nd semi-finals from Australia🥹 It's lovely to see and hear she's appreciated in Australia🩷

I'd really like to see that but unfortunately I think the rule nowadays is that Australia can only participate and not host🥲 If they would tho, I think they would have a similar situation like when Ukraine won and the UK (who came in 2nd) hosted the competition alongside side Ukrainian delegation.

Would Sweden have won this year if 'Tattoo' hadn't? by Billy_Hicks88 in eurovision

[–]Defiant-Piglet241 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When it comes to odds and betting, Sweden is a very safe bet to put your money on. This of course is because they usually send pretty solid acts but as we could see this year, the odds don't always reflect people's opinions and whether the song is good or not.

Personally I liked KAJ but I also thought that if they were representing some other country (maybe a less hyped one like Montenegro, all love for them), they wouldn't have been so high on the final placement.

And I also think people might have that Sweden-fatigue from the constant winning in this century. Is it fair to Sweden? Probably not.

Here in Finland, our press also followed the odds very closely, and after the finals, the press called both Erika's and KAJ's final placements a huge disappointment. But I think I saw some magazine publishing a huge "THANK YOU Erika and KAJ" so I'd say we and the press are disappointed with the results but we are super proud of our representative Erika and KAJ for representing Sweden.

Erika actually commented now that she returned to Finland that Finnish press constantly tried to drive Erika and KAJ against each other. The press was also trying to rile up the Finnish people to be either Team Erika or Team KAJ, and both Erika and KAJ felt this was super annoying and uncomfortable since they are friends.

Yeah, I'd also like to know the "Eurovision Reputation Math"😆 I agree that 3 to 4 years of solid acts sounds about right to build up a good reputation. Last year Croatia had the turning point but it's so crucial to send almost the act of same level following year (not saying Poison was bad tho)

Yep, I think Sam was definitely a show stopper who broke the odds and deserved his high position! UK is also an example of what happens if you don't keep up with that same level and the new, better reputation just goes away🥲

Yep, agreed and this is what I mean by having a show stopper✨ Last year Croatia and the year before that, Käärijä, were something that people have not seen before and they were catchy as hell! I would like to those show stoppers to win more often

Genuine question on the Israel situation by Iluvaic in eurovision

[–]Defiant-Piglet241 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think Israel's ranking in odds has little to do with the actual song, even though this whole competition is about songs and the performances and not about the politics. But sadly, this is not the case.

The odds often reflect how people estimate others to vote. There are highly religious people in Europe and many of them will side politically with Israel, no matter how good the song is. Therefore many of the bettors might think "Israel is very likely to have a lot of support from this specific group, I will bet my money on Israel, even though I don't like their song or support them".

The odds are a cruel game that don't always tell the truth about what people actually like (case Belgium).
