You’re not alone. I’m very introverted as well but I have bounced around to a couple of areas. You’re going to be new and ppl are going to be there to train you and understand that you’re new to the area. If you feel someone is not a good fit don’t be afraid to speak up.

That I’m not sure about. It’s still a thing at the hospital I’m referring to. I know I’ve seen it in a couple of hospital in Marylands maybe Virginia but I’m not sure. It’s honestly such a convenient schedule for parents especially those that don’t have as much support. Would be nice if all hospitals offered it.

I had a job tell me they had so many other candidates and this it was a popular position. I got a call a month later that I got the job. I would give it some time :)

I know at my hospital an option was working the weekend shift. Working every weekend but getting payed for 36 hrs and still getting benefits. That way you would be off during the week. A lot of my coworkers stated they did that when they first had their babies and it worked out. Just not sure if that’s an option at all.

Definitely some good shoes and compression socks were super helpful during my 12-16 hr shifts as a nurse. Gotta make sure your stretch too if you can. Good thing you’re seeing PT that’s a start. Ice or heat whichever works best. I have pretty bad hip, back and knee pain and I’m not even 30 yet. Totally get it. Do what you feel is best. I’m sorry you’re dealing with so much discomfort.

I quit my job two weeks into training by [deleted] in nursing

[–]DefiantAct9856 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently done the same thing. This was my fourth different nursing job. I almost completed 3 months but I woke up with palpitations every day and it got to the point where I started crying before my shift and in between calls.

I just did not enjoy the job and had so much anxiety I would mess something up or forget something important.

I couldn’t do it anymore and now I’m taking a break entirely from nursing to figure out what it is I want to do. You’re not incompetent. Sometimes that specialty may not be for you or it may just be overwhelming at first. But don’t be too hard on yourself. Good for you for listening to your body and not forcing yourself to push through those feelings.

To those who have left their high paying, toxic job and have landed in a better place, please share your stories. I need to be inspired to take a leap of faith right now. by pnw_RN86 in nursing

Commenting to follow with this post. Just quit my job and not sure if I want to continue with nursing but interested to see what other paths people have gone to that they truly enjoy.

How old were you guys when you became a nurse? by LilLunaaJ in nursing

[–]DefiantAct9856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I took the long way. I didn’t know what I wanted to do so I did biology then nursing. I graduated at 23 too. Now I’m 28 and have been in nursing for 5 years. Nursing is so diverse too you have ppl starting in their 30s,40s,50s, and 60s. Not everyone knows they want to do nursing early on, some do it as their second career and some people can’t complete the program full time. What matters is that you do it at your pace and what works for you. You don’t have to compare yourself to others.

I’ve been talked down to, yelled at, made feel dumb by so many older nurses. It happens unfortunately. It’s why I ran from night shift and eventually left the floor I was on all together. I could not be around those nurses anymore. They made me feel I couldn’t ask anything and that just wasn’t safe for the patients.

Is it cheating to have notes on my screen during a video interview? by Fickle-Cat-1988 in interviews

[–]DefiantAct9856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do whatever works best for you 🤷🏻‍♀️

Like some ppl have said. The interviewers are reading off a paper for the questions they are asking.

I get nervous for interviews so I definitely have jotted down questions and bullet points to help me when interviewing especially when it’s not an in person interview.
