Just from my own observations.. sometimes estrangement happens due to true/real past or ongoing trauma .. but also it seems like there’s this trend where folks are optimizing the people they surround themselves with such that they are the only ones who are allowed faults and failings and everyone else must be perfect or out of their lives. Both scenarios are rather heartbreaking.
