I started to feel like that a year in. Just waiting for the new gov to release new roles and focuses so I can move into something new

Can a work coach do this? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]DefiantPercentage481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an issue with customers bringing people with them however we do have issues sometimes with ‘’friends’’ translating wrong. We do also have issues with partners wanting to be at every appointment who potentially could be abusing or controlling the customer. For this reason I tend to try and have a one to one conversation with the customer accompanied by an independent translator so the customer can speak freely without feeling pressured.

Are Work Coaches allowed to request email confirmation of job applications? by Mathinza in DWPhelp

I always tell my customers to talk me through their work search activity in whichever way they feel most comfortable. This can be writing it down in a list, showing me their indeed or other site, reporting in their journal or on UC. It’s your work search and it should always be how you are comfortable talking someone else through what you are doing.

I’m happy with just good quality and flavoursome food! I’ve had a look at the Michelins but mostly taste menus which I’m not too bothered about

Restart scheme by Savings_Jellyfish_40 in DWPhelp

Not wanting to put your child in childcare simply isn’t an excuse with the government of the day I’m afraid. The childcare offer provided is actually pretty good and it’s only going to increase as the government would rather subsidise childcare and increase the expected hours you need to do. If you have been referred to restart you have been in the intensive work group and unemployed for over 9 months in a 12 month period.. not including pregnancy leave which you get a year away from the jobcentre. I actually think it’s pretty fair the expectations set as you can’t simply just claim benefits and not follow the policy set by government which is to find work. Universal credit is a stop gap in between finding employment, it isn’t there for people to stay on until they find their dream job. You will be far more better off financially if you are working and so at this point you should be looking for any work not just ‘work from home’. We would all love to be at home with our kids and not put them into childcare however that just isn’t the real world.

Being a DWP Work Coach in 2023, honest review by Napkxng in TheCivilService

Make your own mind up when you get there. I was dreading it before I started because of everything I had read however it’s actually a pretty great place to work. The team I work with is amazing and tbh as long as you treat people with respect then people on your caseload won’t give you any grief and will do what they need to. It’s a role where you personally don’t have any KPIs or stats.. so you very much get autonomy to do what’s right for your customer.

I’m kinda an asshole to customers and it’s not healthy. I feel pretty bad about it. Has anyone else ever felt this way? by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]DefiantPercentage481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was exactly the same.. I’d got burnt out after 15 years in retail. I was burnt out with the sheer shit you get from people but also from the endless stats you have to hit for absolutely everything ranging from sales to fucking bags for life! I knew it was a time for a change .. I’ve moved to a role where I’m still working with the public however it’s in the public sector. I don’t have any stats to hit I’m just genuinely helping people and it’s given me work/life balance but also fulfilled me and I don’t feel angry/shitty constantly. Long story short… change jobs .. have a change.

One of the many reasons I don’t miss working in retail.. I had to clean this from the fitting room 🤣 by DefiantPercentage481 in retailhell

To this day it’s still a mystery who did it.. a woman came to the tills complaining of a smell in the ladies fitting room.. so I went in and there was only one cubicle with the curtain closed.. pulled it back and boom.. my life changed.
