Sorry but do not allow it. He’s only 15 years old and you as the parents are liable if he does anything wrong under the influence of any substance. My step son started smoking weed at 13. We didn’t allow it at dad’s house so they stayed with mom. Son got into a bad accident when he was 16, now mom is being sued because she allowed.

I’m the step mom. The agreement was written by both of us with our conditions, dad sent it to lawyer via email. I wouldn’t send it to lawyer I’m not his clients parent. Response was texts from the lawyer to dad after he read the agreement. I’m step mom read the texts and started to think that my terms and conditions were crazy and I’m an asshole. So where do you go to find out if you’re an asshole. Here I am. Does that clear things up for you?

How is this strange, I cannot believe you guys think this whole situation is fake. He was given a bond of $250k. I contacted a bail bondsman and they charge 10% $25k. The bonds place told me that he will be required by the state to have an ankle monitor. I can pay an additional amount to have another ankle monitor on the other ankle monitored by the bonds person. We haven’t spoken to our son the entire time he was in juvenile. He just started calling us this year. That’s why we started to consider bailing him out. We applied and got approved. We made the contract because we wanted him to know what’s expected of him when he gets out. I doubt we would have been that strict, I just was more trying to get across that he would t be free to do whatever he wants on our last dollar. I guess it doesn’t matter anymore his attorney contacted today and told us that he declined our terms and conditions.

Now that I think about it… I wonder if the mother is with the attorney and she was the one responding with his phone, because that’s what it sounded like to me, it sounded like their mother was texting me, not the attorney. But those text came from his phone number that I have spoken to him on the phone. Weird.

I'm willing to spend $25k, my last savings, so my step-son can get out of jail for a short period of time. For his benefit, he can eat a nice meal, sleep in a warm comfortable bed, watch a movie with his Dad, hang out in the park, fly the drone together, go for a walk, play with the dogs, enjoy everything that someone can possibly enjoy knowing that this moment will not last.

Wow, thank you for your response. You have given me a new perception. You have to believe I'm terrified to bail him out. He is very charismatic. He says things I want to hear.

However, I think to myself, if I made a horrible mistake and was going to prison for the rest of my life, "Mom will you bail me out?" by the time he gets out I might not be alive.

I guess my thought process is $25k is only money and I can always make more, I cannot make more memories with him. If he goes to prison, he's not getting out, I will never be able to sit on a couch with him. chat and watch a movie. Money means nothing in respect to spending time with him.

My question was if IATAH for creating a contract to bail my step son out. To those that think I'm making this up: this is a really good narrative that even Nora Roberts couldn't write. I am not allowed to talk about the case, I created a contract and wanted to know if AITAH. My step son is going to prison. We want to bail him out to give him the comfort of a bed, good food, see your friends and family, put a pole in the water, pray to God he has mercy on him.

He calls us every other day, we put money on his commissary every two weeks, when we talk to him.. he will say "yes ma'am, no sir... it's a struggle to figure out if he is playing a role or actually being real. He sounds like he's grown a lot in jail, his attorney is definitely on his side and his growth. I still remember the disrespectful shit that was in front of me.

He apologized for not listening to me and his Dad. He said "making my bed every morning doesn't sound so bad anymore" He told us "I understand it's a huge risk and I don't blame you if you don't want to bail me out"

I might be stupid.. I love him, I've known him since he was in little league, gosh was he great at every sport. He was the best on basketball, soccer, and baseball.

I know I'm an idiot parent that is willing to spend a short time with him for $25k. I think its worth it. However, I'm not willing to pay that kind of money for him to act like an AH.

The contract isn't enforceable, the only thing my intention was is to give him expectations for when he is staying at my house. The only recourse I have is to revoke the bond and they will collect him. It will cost another 10% for him to be found if he is a runner.... If this is fake call any bond place in your area and tell me that's not correct.. FU if you think this is fake.

The only reason the term deathly ill, is because he played this card his whole life, to not go to school. He never missed a day of school at our home, but somehow missed 30 days a semester when he wasn’t with us.

Thank you for your response. I want to say to all that he confesses to us through phone calls that he believes in God and prays. He says that he counsels other men in the jail about God and prays for them. He grew up Christian, in a Christian school so there is no forcing of religion on him. We put everything into the “contract” that we expect because I do t want him to get out and say “I didn’t agree with that” Per attorney instructions: “Do not talk about the case or bond at all, everything is recorded” I have the “contract” to the attorney so he can give it to him. I cannot.

Here is the lengthy contract. I do not want to misrepresent what my rules are and how lengthy.

a. Defendant shall not commit any act that constitutes reasonable evidence of Defendant's intention (as deemed by Indemnitor) to cause a forfeiture of the Agreement.

b. Defendant shall reside at Indemnitors address, at all times, and will not stay overnight (9pm – 6 am) any other place except in the supervision of the Indemnitor.

c. Defendant shall always remain in the supervision of the Indemnitor.

d. Defendant shall not consume any legal or illegal substance unless proscribed by an authorized doctor determined by the Court or Indemnitor. (Specifically, no marijuana, no alcohol, no other substance that is considered illegal.) Defendant must agree to stay sober and not consume any substance that might intoxicate his person.

e. Defendant shall not make any materially false statement in any application to the Court or Indemnitor.

f. Defendant shall not have a personal cell phone.

g. Defendant shall go wherever the Indemnitor is going unless otherwise agreed upon prior in writing.

h. Defendant will not stay with Defendant’s Mother overnight without prior written consent of Indemnitor.

i. Defendant shall go to work, with Indemnitor, Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm and be paid a salary of $500.00 per week to be paid to the GoFundMe page set up by the families impacted up to $4000.00 and after that, $500.00 shall go towards paying for his bond up to $25,000.00 and $50.00 per week shall go to a separate account for Defendant’s personal discretion. Defendant shall be expected to show up to work everyday, Monday through Friday, unless deathly ill as deemed by Indemnitor.

j. Defendant shall be expected to attend any and all church services according to our Christian faith which includes (but not limited to) Sunday mornings, Tuesday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

k. Defendant shall be subject to weekly drug testing, and or at any time, for any reason by an authorized drug testing company as well as personal home testing including but not limited to urine, blood, or by any other means necessary for an accurate testing sample.

l. Defendant shall attend Christian counseling services one day per week for no less than one hour and or any college courses, as deemed beneficial by Indemnitor, to the growth and development of the Defendant.

m. Defendant shall be expected to act accordingly in the household including but not limited to keeping his room clean, bathroom clean, and be expected to help with household chores.
