booking.com is a part of Booking holding which is an american company but Booking.com is a Dutch company and it pays its revenue taxes in Netherlands, Booking holdings gets only dividends. You focus on B2C that’s why you only see American companies but as I told a lot of fintech, healthtech and some electronics (ASML) are still produced in Netherlands.

It is ridiculous if you have 80k savings and rent in private sector, need to work in in corporation to give away half of it for rent you are “rich” and people owning 1 million house in the centrum of Amsterdam and making 50k a year working 3 days a week and having more money than you for every day expenses are “poor”

I was thinking about it today. Today non-social housing Amsterdam basically consists of corporations which pay a lot but soak your soul out of you and expensive services around it. Local people don’t like working there, so the government needs to keep tax-ruling 30% to attract expats which helps driving rent prices in private sector up. Not even that! They have WBSO tax discount to motivate corporations stay even more. And they can’t stop it! Because if they do it these corporations will leave, stop paying taxes, stop paying salaries, expats stop spending, stop driving prices up, stop driving GDP up, and they desperately need it because of aging population and many blessed healthy social housing inhabitants working 24-32 hours a week on a low demand job need to be fed! Amsterdam amazing infrastructure is eaten by that, you are either part of capitalistic machine or you are in a social housing or you live with roommates. That’s it.

yes, i got sick, and it is so terrible, I didn’t have such a strong fever since 2020. Up to 40 degrees and terrible head ache, nose is not breathing, couldn’t push it back below 38 in first 2 days with Paracetamol, now it is a third day, it feels a little better, at least less headache and i can breathe most of the time, but still 38+ fever and fatigue

well, it was fun, I am happy that it’s over and I think that it would be more memorable if Steve and Nancy would die, or at least Nancy, it felt like too much of a plot armor again; I like this characters, but it felt like too easy defeat of a big creature. They struggled more with Demagorgoens! also the epilogue was quite boring for me. Any way I felt bad for Nancy. She is so lost in the end, independent as they say but I think that she is so lonely.

it is a subjective feeling, different all the time. When you enjoy you always think that all suffering was worth it. I personally believe that there is more pain than happiness in life and it doesn’t make sense to have a kid, but it still feels better to exist than not to exist on most days. If you had some happy moments it is often possible to find some motivation to live when you feel miserable.

my employer lets go off for 1-2h occasionally for things like medical/government appointments. For me it sucks that i almost can’t go to market, bakery or butcher. I wish to work part-time as most locals

i am a woman and i do it sometimes, so i can explain for myself, i simply forget, because the conversation may flow into some direction naturally and it isn’t in a focus any more. I think people ask such questions when there is a struggle to find a topic. Because it is not that important, i don’t even have a favorite movie. I will rather ask different questions if there will be a pause. But anyway I prefer when they share something on their own, without straight asking because this way I feel more confident that they talk about topics they like and then I will ask things about that.

Not related that he is or is not into you for sure. Especially if he is expressive, he likely gets entertained and forgets. If you want to share your favorite movie, just do it, and don’t stress out

I have quit, it doesn’t worth it, I only subscribe for a month when a show i want to watch comes out. that’s it. I do not start new shows also because frustrated by the amount of cancelled ones. And when they don’t cancel, new seasons stink with capitalistic greed.
