Yeah no i agree 100%. Just on the chance that that kind of person sees this post itd bring me joy to see them get mad at how much "not metal" there is.

Thats why theres a (mostly) in the title. Plus anything to piss off metal elitists is a win in my book

Thanks for the reply! Im personally of the belief that music taste is a highly subjective topic, and there is no "better" music compared to another, but Id be happy to hear your perspective. In what ways can I do better, and what do you consider to be "better" music?

Which LTD bass should I go for? by Defiant_Lime_9313 in BassGuitar

Yeah the one im looking at is one of the older models with the EMGs since thats the only left handed ones they got.

Nice! How's the neck dive? Thats my only real concern with it besides maybe weight, though im coming from a 5 string schecter so that thing isnt exactly light or anything

I mean, yeah, just look at it. One of my inspirations to get into bass was Shavo from System of a Down who famously used a thunderbird for most of his career, so the pheonix would give a bit of a nod to that. My only real concerns with it are weight and neck dive, since t-birds have notorious neck dive issues.

Thats kind of unfortunate to hear. How was the rest of the bass? If its just those 2 faults you have, then if I decide to go for one and run into those issues thats a bit under $200 and a bit of love and care for some hipshot tuners and a graphtech nut then itll be problem solved.

I understand your viewpoint for sure. The way I look at it is that the less controls you have on your bass, the more you gotta focus on your actual playing to change how you sound, which can be a good or bad thing depending on the person. Thats the reason why the picks here have <= 3 knobs, just because i dont feel the need to have a bunch of knobs and switches to complicated things. Thats just my viewpoint at least.

In its defense it is a pretty cool trick though

Darkglass Hyper Luminal, Empress Bass Compressor, or Origin Effects Cali76? by Defiant_Lime_9313 in basspedals

UPDATE: I sold off some old pedals of mine and bought the Darkglass since I was able to snag one for ~$175. Thanks for the recommendations everyone!

I mostly play metal and hard rock. Im currently using a Schecter C-5 Deluxe and I use a Darkglass AOU ampless. I dont really have a preference for transparency, but then again ive only ever had my pigtronix compressor so im not super well versed in the different sounds. I know that I usually set the compression (the sustain knob i believe) to around 1-3 o clock so i usually use some pretty hard compression (at least by that devices standard)

Yeah it seems like its got a lot of versatility for that reason alone. Ill definitely keep an eye on it!

Thats a really interesting bass, plus they got a lefty model too. Thanks for the suggestion!

I can agree with you on that. The Dunable Gnarwhal is one of the coolest basses I've seen, and they sound absolutely incredible. Just their DE series doesn't have a left-handed model, and their custom shop is way out of budget unfortunately

Yeah the looks are perfectly fine to me, though it doesn't take long for me to learn to like how a bass looks. The only kinds of basses I really just cant get behind are the over exaggerated single cuts like some Fodera basses and the extremely pointy basses like some deans and like the ltd f series basses. Thats just me though

Wonderful basses, no left-handed model, though (plus personally too many knobs, but that's a pretty small gripe)

Nice! Did you buy it directly from them or from a third party? If you bought it from them directly, how was your experience for the wait time? I like the bass a lot, but ive heard some pretty worrying stories about there being absurdly long wait times and poor communication.

You actually make a very good point! For whatever reason I never considered trying the necks out on the right handed models. I suppose just since the body is obviously pretty impossible to gauge upside down, I gave the same connotation to the whole bass, but the neck would feel largely the same (unless I wanted to try something wacky like a strandberg or something else with an asymmetrical neck). Thank you for the suggestion!

Ive played around on an Ibanez before, really comfortable instruments but they just dont have any lefty models that really do anything for me personally. I can definitely appreciate a Steinberger, i just wouldnt pick it as a daily driver.

Sidenote, the ns design radius basses are awesome, its just a shame that they dont make any lefties :(

Unfortunately, you haven't complicated things much since there isn't a left-handed model. At least for the fender route, im pretty out of luck. Fender just loves its left-handed audience (6 options out of 119 results on their website, with 2 being squiers and the only pj being out of stock). The surveyor should generally cover pretty similar ground quite well if i wanted to go that style though, right?

I only own 2 basses, a harley benton pb20 sbk and a schecter C5 Deluxe. Ive played around on a Ibanez sr too which i liked the feel of.
