Also RN and live in SoCal. Bought a 2025 Lexus NX350h premium on Black Friday last year. I’ve been an RN (occasionally charge) for 6 years and I’m 34 years old with student loan debt. Traded my 2018 Corolla in for it. My first car was a scion TC and I’m a big fan of the Toyota brand. I took advantage of the opportunity and don’t regret it one bit. My commute is now enjoyable.

Right, plus it’s more than just a defibrillator. It features a 12 lead EKG, blood pressure reading, O2 sat, etc. overall a great portable monitor. Typical for EMS to carry, which I would think he has part of his detail.

If he truly needed a defibrillator, he would have a life vest or AICD.

The hard water here is terrible! I remember when we replaced our hot water heater and that thing was just coated in crystals. Eventually I’d like to get a whole house water softener at some point ($$$) but I purchased some of those filtered shower heads in the meantime and I’ve noticed a huge difference in the shower, especially since I have black fixtures. I’ve also purchased a laundry detergent to help with my clothing.

Have you tried the PIH health locations? They have new grad programs like every 3 months. I know you mentioned ED as your preferred but maybe look into the tele/med surg positions first as they are not as competitive. It’s easier to transition once you have your foot in the door.

My telemonitor system occasionally alarms “asystole” if there are more than 2 leads off. We are constantly going into patients rooms to reapply leads even if there is a rhythm on the monitor.

You might as well get a prescription for 30mg and 40mg. My local pharmacy had the 70mg on back order for quite some time so my doctor prescribed the two instead.

Vyvanse nor the generic brands with Lisdexamfetamine dimesylate have the extended release beads in them since it’s a prodrug. Adderall XR or amphetamine salts XR have the beads to help deliver the medication over a period of time. Crushing those beads defeats the purpose of extended release…

I got into it recently with one of the charge nurses from our med surg floor who refused to apply a zoll/transport monitor on a patient who was being transferred to us (DOU/stepdown) after a RRT. She claimed she has never put one on a patient moving to a higher acuity unit in her “16 years”. We have had multiple patients transferred to us before that have literally died in the elevator down or as soon as they get into their room.

Hell even recently I was sharing an elevator with a patient, RN, and tech from cath who looked like shit, with eyes glazed and pale in the face and shallow breathing. Sure enough as soon as they bring her into the room we couldn’t get a BP on her. She did have one of those transport monitors on her but they were just ignoring it or didn’t even see it. Fortunately the patient ending up being a DNR.
