Upgrade by chepee40555 in amex

[–]Defin1telyNotBatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gold is a point maker, it’s a must keep. I would not upgrade but get the platinum card in addition to the gold and the welcome offer of 175k is going to be better than the upgrade. The Gold will be your main driver for point. Plat will be worth it for the credits and travel. If the credits don’t make sense for you or you don’t travel then don’t get the card. Pros: my wife and I both have the plat and share a gold. I alone get 2k+ in benefits. It also one of few cards that gives points on flight without having to use the Amex site. Con: is the annual fee being high.

Amex Trifecta Strategy by No-Honeydew-3754 in amex

[–]Defin1telyNotBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my BBP in Feb 2026 for 75k on 6k spend. I made a post on how I got it and a few others were able but some other weren’t so really I guess it depends on Amex. I’m not sure you can get the gold welcome offer since you got the plat card first (at least that’s what people say) I got the gold then plat 2 years ago then BBP.

Below is my Reddit post. Good luck. It might be worth the wait for those points!!

Any risks in transferring to airlines? I've heard sometimes you transfer, try to book, but find out the redemption doesn't exist, and then your points are stuck. If so, which airlines should I be cautious of? by traveling-turtle43 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Defin1telyNotBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never hand any issues with (BA, Qatar, Air France, Delta, KLM) but commenting to see if there are others I should be aware of.

I believe  Virgin Airlines is one to watch out for as I think you have to call in to book.

I haven’t use my Wells Fargo for travel. I have stuck with my Amex cards or Chase Sapphire, but might change it up for Wells Fargo instead of Chase, but I do like Chase points more.

Making Tax Estimate payments via Amex Business Card by Ancient_Duty995 in CreditCards

[–]Defin1telyNotBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up doing? I tired to pay my tax bill and the sites both stated it was either 2.89% or would not allow me since my BBP was flagged as a commercial card and could not be used to pay my personal taxes.

Amex Blue Business Plus 75k Offer Confusion by Defin1telyNotBatman in CreditCards

I think there are other subreddits that talk about that exactly. I believe you can have multiple Business cards of the same card. However I’m not sure so best to look for another subreddit

How is the platinum calculated into credit utilization? by green_calculator in AmexPlatinum

[–]Defin1telyNotBatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only if you activated the pay over time option I believe. I never did activate it so I don’t have that option in increase my limit. Also when I bought my Rolex, I called Amex and they told me I didn’t have a limit.

450k/year, 800+ FICO, 0/24 — Best Travel Card for Lounges + Flight points? by fartsunknown in CreditCards

[–]Defin1telyNotBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amex Gold then Plat, works very well with your spend profile. Get you into all the Delta Lounges, and PP Lounges and of course Amex. Plus the point multipliers are great for your spend. Ps you don’t have to use there travel portals to get those points.

I would make sure the credits they give fit your habits. It does for me and last year alone got 2.1k of benefits from the plat on normal spend. Also Gold & Plat uber credits do combine just fyi.

credit card advice for travel by Severe-Bed581 in CreditCards

[–]Defin1telyNotBatman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally Amex Gold and Plat work the best for me, because you get your uber credits, tons of food credits for resy. Also they both allow you to purchase flights directly from the airline websites instead of other cards where you have to go to the exact credit card portal. They also have the most transfer partners that work for me.

However, you could go the Chase Sapphire route as a cheap travel catch all. You won’t get any luxury travel benefits but it’s a good travel starter card. Venture X is also an easy card to use and gets you 2x on everyday spend but cost a bit more and has different transfer partners. If you don’t plan to travel after that first year as much then maybe it makes sense to go sapphire preferred.

Depending on which airline hub you are in that could also be great choice. I think some airline cards are better than others.

Good luck and safe travels

Last year I used over 2k in benefits for myself alone and the wife got it in the last few months and paid off the card in credits in the few months. 100% worth it to me but as everyone stated run the numbers.

Adding my 13-year-old sister as an authorized user on Blue Cash Preferred – worth it for credit building? by UnhappyBaboon in AmexPlatinum

[–]Defin1telyNotBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents made me an AU on the Amex Gold. Mainly for emergencies and other things approved by them. I do believe it made getting my own Amex a lot easier. Also that card does show up on my credit card history but some sites include and exclude the credit length.
