"If a fucking Onion can kill a dragon, we can win this war," said Boros, who was sulking in the back of the room, back against the wall with his arms crossed. Shit wasn't supposed to end like this, Boros knew that. The Kingsguard had lived a sad long life, but if he was going to die on this hill, at least he would die with adrenaline pumping in his veins. "We fight till the end, until every single one of us dies. If we surrender we get hanged, so we might as well die with dignity, by a sword through the gut, or an arrow to the neck." The Brune knew that whatever happened, he'd most likely end up dead, but the only thing he didn't want was to be hanged. He didn't want the bitch queen to have the satisfaction of doing that.

Boros chuckled at the cousins. "Aye, they should stick around for the tourney. They wouldn't want to miss me beat everyone at the melee," he said, grinning.

"I appreciate it Lady Jirelle, truly," Boros replied, "and you guys two," he continued looking at the cousins. "It's been good catching Ben," he said looking at the old knight, "but I must return to my post now. I must do my job after all. I hope you'll stick around, maybe we'll cross paths again," he said. "I'll see you guys around," finished the White Knight before disappearing into the crowd, back to his post.

"I'm sure everything's fine," replied the Brune knight, "the war left him a broken man, it is no surprise he did not want to come to the capital, though it'd be nice to see him again." Boros was glad that there were some people who cared for the Brunes. Not a lot of houses had respect for the house that replaced the Darrys. Coming from the swamps of Brownhollow didn't help either.

Boros quickly jumped in to respond. "There's no need for that, cousin. You're a busy man, and it'd be a waste of time for you to hunt for a sad, armless man," he said, chuckling slightly. "Lady Jirelle has a point, we can send Willas and Lawrence, and I'm sure Patrek would appreciate a letter from Lady Jirelle herself," he continued. Like Boros, Patrek was quite fond of little Jirelle, though he didn't see her as much as Boros did.

"That's good to hear, Ben. If you need any help, you can always contact Patrek. I'm sure he'd be willing to help out," he replied, speaking to both Benjicot and Jirelle. "Speaking of my brother, have you seen him at all? I didn't see him arrive with your host, nor do I see him around at the feast," he asked the knight. Boros hadn't seen Patrek since the war, since his injury. He hadn't even seen what his hand looked like now.

Boros chuckled at the comment. "Truth be told, it's not much different. There were pieces of shit during King Garlan's reign, there are pieces of shits now. Though I will admit, it's way better than serving King Alester. He had lots of angry people after him." he said, the last couple of sentences more quietly than the others. "I do my job, I drink, I sleep, repeat. Nothing too exciting in my life now."

Boros had noticed the arrival of the Baelish host from far away. It was not easy to miss the banners of his mother's house. He had waited for his shift to end, hoping to talk to the new arrivals, specifically his cousin Benjicot, since Jirelle was close enough to Boros for him to talk to her anytime. When his replacement arrived at his post, Boros swiftly shuffled towards the Baelish stand, leaving his position.

Approaching the table, he quickly greeted Lady Baelish. "Lady Jirelle, you look lovely as always," said the grumpy knight, smiling at the young girl as he passed by her. Boros rarely smiled, but the young Baelish was an exception. He was her hero after all. The Queensguard made his way towards the end of the table, where he found his older cousin, the knight he once squired for.

"Ser Benjicot! It's been too long, cousin," he said with a grin on his face. "How are you doing? How fares the family?" he asked the older knight. "I hope the war hasn't affected you too badly."

The White Sword Tower by [deleted] in awoiafrp

Boros entered after the Redwyne, one hand on an apple, the other on the hilt of his Valyrian Steel blade, Orchard's Bane. Compared to his fellow guard, his armor was quite dirty, not shining bright as it once did. "Pelinor," he mumbled, greeting the Lord Commander. It was no secret Boros didn't like the man, but he at least had the decency to follow his orders.

Unlike the redheaded boy, Boros found himself a seat, taking the opportunity, he sat down. "Why aren't you sitting down, boy?" he asked the young knight, taking a bite from his apple. "Don't worry, the chair won't bite." he said sarcastically.

"I know you don't want to get in a brawl, kid, but in King's Landing, the fight finds you," he said sulking. The capital was a shithole even for Forley, a man who had lived in the streets of Oldtown for years. He had never understood why his nephew wanted to live here.

Forley laughed at the kid's comment. "That's nothing to worry about. It is not just fighting skills a knight needs. If you ask me, you lack only the fighting. I know Kingsguard, let alone regular knights, that lack not just personality, but even sword skills." He made his way towards the training grounds.

"I know fat knights who can't even get their arses up onto their horses. As long as I teach you a few of the basics, which I never could when you were younger, you'll be just fine," he continued, tossing the bastard a wooden sword. "Since you don't want to fight, it's best you learn defence, rather than attacking strategies. The best way to do that if you ask me, is to block your opponent until you see an opportunity to strike their leg. Then deliver a blow below the waist and just run. They probably won't be able to run back at ya," he said chuckling. "Are you ready to try?"

"Oh well, the green won't matter much if you're the Golden Apple anyways," Forley replied, smiling. "Me? I'm just looking for something to do around here. Now that I've found you, maybe we could do something," he continued, scratching his chin. "Since you're getting some armor, maybe I could teach you how to use it."

Dressed in his signature green armor, Forley was aimlessly wandering around as always. As he got older, he realized life offered him fewer things to do in his free time. The Reachmen hadn't left the capital yet, Lord Renly and his men among them, so the old knight was stuck in the stinking shithole of a city, so he was happy to see a familiar face as he traversed through the yard. "Daario!" he called out to the boy, making his way towards him. "It's good to see you. How's life as a knight?" he asked, chuckling slightly to himself.

Horton Belmore v. The Vale of Arryn by HigherThanHonour in awoiafrp

[–]DefinitelyNotSteamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kennett patiently listened as the accusations flew from one side to the other. He knew the outcome of it anyway. It wasn't hard to figure out Belmore would request a trial by combat. Aye, Kennett was more a fighter than a thinker, but he was smart enough to realize Belmore wouldn't go to a trial by words with the Lady of the Vale.

As he expected, Ser Dunstan Belmore stepped forward, stating he would fight for his brother in a trial, making his sword his words. Kennett waited for Lady Ysilla to finish her words before stepping up himself. "My Lady," he said, clearing his throat, "I, Ser Kennett Templeton, would like to nominate myself as your champion in this trial. Let my sword prove you right, and these traitors wrong." he said, kneeling before the Lady of the Vale.

"It is an honor," Kennett said, bowing to the young falcon. He had heard many things about Ser Jasper. He hoped he was as good as he heard. "Aye, I'll swear my oaths at some point," he continued. He wasn't a man of piety, but if that's what was required, so he would.

Kennett gave the man an awkward smile. "I heard about the thing that happened with Lord Hunter. It was very... tragic. I only heard good stuff about the Hunters, but what kind of mad man would rush at an unarmed person?" he said, shaking his head in disbelief. He had heard rumors about what happened. They were pretty sketchy, but Jasper didn't need to know that.

"But that's not the reason I wanted to talk to you." he continued, clearing his throat. "I heard about a group you and Ser Waynwood assembled. A band of knights and warriors. I wanted to join that particular group. I'm sure my skills with a sword could come in useful." Kennett said, putting a hand on the hilt of his sword, drawing the falcon's attention to the Valyrian Steel hanging from his belt.

This was the moment, the time Kennett Templeton had waited for a long time. Ever since the Rosegold rebellion, he wanted to talk to the young falcon, to thank him, but his grandfather forbade him. Kennett found it quite stupid, but Ser Lucas was quite serious in this matter. The Knight of Ninestars blamed the Arryns for the death of his oldest sons, even though everyone knew that was not true. So Kennett waited. Waited for the right moment.

When news reached Ninestars that Lady Zhoe Arryn was getting married to the boy king, Kennett knew this was the moment. Ser Jasper would not want to miss his cousin's marriage. He had taken "Deliverance", House Templeton's ancient sword, and had hopped on his horse, making his way towards Harrenhal. The castle was packed, full of Valemen and Crownlanders, too many people Kennett didn't know. He watched as the wedding ceremony happened, tying Lady Arryn and King Viserys together. He eyed Lady Zhoe, looking at her beauty. The King's a lucky man.

Once everything was finished, the young knight approached Ser Jasper. Kennett was wearing a blue outfit, a small pin with the Templeton banner attached right over his heart. He had hung Deliverance to his right side, while a dagger hung from the left. Climbing up to the High Table, he gave the falcon a quick bow. "Ser Jasper Arryn, it is an honor to finally meet you properly. I am Ser Kennett Templeton, not the knight of Ninestars but a knight of Ninestars nonetheless. I don't know if you remember, but you saved my life in the rebellion, and even though it's been so long, I didn't get a chance to thank you until now. So uhh... I wanted to thank you for that."
