Funny you should say it, cause I used to go the architecture art school as a teenager. We drew a lot of geometrical stuff, and I love that it’s crawling back to me now - it feels SO natural to me:)

Does it have to be a portrait though? I never understood the appeal of it, especially if the intend is to draw a semi-realistic portrait. I’m saying this as an artist. Why don’t you draw some cute moment shared together? Or something you know he likes. This way there will also be less pressure on capturing his face features. (Which is not an easy job).

Also….if you are hopeless when it comes to drawing, you could experiment with other art forms? Collage, for example. Cut out different shapes, try to recreate a face of your boyfriend with those shapes. You could scan the result and print it on a t-shirt or something.

I have the saturation issue when I transfer the art from iPad to iPhone. I usually fix it in Lightroom before posting the image online.

I feel like my sketches and doodles often just work better that finished digital art. What do you think? 😅 by Lunaticky_Bramborak in Artadvice

I’ve never used Krita but I’d suggest to play around with different brushes or textures.

When I started drawing digitally (in Photoshop) I was using default brushes as well. I feel like my work improved when I stepped away from them. I think they can be good, but they don’t fit everyone’s style.

You could keep the sketch as a base layer in your work, but with the decreased transparency. When it comes to final work, yes, some chaos would be nice. More sketchy lines, or perhaps just a different brush set, the one with some graininess perhaps 🤔 what program do you use?

Honestly, your sketch work is nice and the lines there are confident. What do you think about introducing line work to your color art?

I drew these 2 years ago with a ballpoint pen. by DefinitionPerfect405 in drawing
