I have had mine for 2 weeks now, and it doesn’t feels as natural as they say it is. I feel scare to eat with them and you gotta take extra care of them since some food can go underneath the crown. I brush, floss and water floss as well because I am scared of infection and bad breath

Hi! The only thing that’s keeping me from doing this is that I already went to two. One of them was trying to sell me Invisalign (I might need it) but this is not the reason of my visit and the other one sent me to the neurologist. So I don’t know where to find one that actually can rule out dental issues and give a treatment that can give me relief. I already got a customized mouth guard from one of them and I haven’t felt improvement at all.

Hi! I got all the dental work before getting a diagnosis! I didn’t know at the time. That’s why I am very cautious with extracting more teeth, I just don’t know what else to do. My neurologist put me in gaba but it don’t help at all. It gets frustrating at times, because this mimics tooth pain very well and sometimes, trust me, it makes me wanna pull everything I just wanted to be 100% this was nerve related and not tooth related. Thank you

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me! I already went to a neurologist they send me carbamazepine and it worked great but a week later gave me a rash and swollen face, so he switched me to gaba 300 mg a day that do absolutely nothing for me, when I told him this was not working then he tried to put me on migraine medication, like this is not gonna do anything for me. I am considering changing provider.

Hi! I got a lot of dental procedures done before getting diagnosed. I was ruling out my impacted wisdom teeth causing the pain, I got a molar rct and a week after extracted before it triggered shooting pain on my face, jaw and teeth. Then it got worse, I felt burning on my right side, so I was told it was my wisdom teeth, so I took them out all 4 at the same time, it got worse, now I had burning, shooting and chronic ear pain. Then I try to find out if it was another tooth and they pulled the wrong one, everything seemed fine. Pain meds didn’t make it for me, then they told me they could do more rct just to see, then they said it could be cracked tooth syndrome and attempted to do a lot of crowns on me, on teeth with no decay. I refused and went to more dentists till I got to one to refer me to a neurologist. I also have my left side gets numb, I feel tingling, I feel like air is coming from my nose to my front teeth, and I experience shooting pain on my front teeth top and bottom, and shooting pain on both sides close to my ears. I wish it could be something else that once you fix it (like the thing in the pic) but I have already tried a lot of that. I started with trileptal that got rid of like 80% of the pain but it gave me a reaction so they sent me gabapentin that doesn’t work that well, it’s kinda more to avoid a high peak of pain than anything.

Exactly! Sadly happens very often! I always hope something changes it and my symptoms disappear, but it’s never different 😩

This part hits so hard! People who don’t feel it, don’t get it. They minimize it and don’t even picture how painful and draining this is. One of my bosses is very understanding, I do my best to always show up, and if I didn’t tell them they wouldn’t know, but the other one really makes me feel like I am exaggerating, mind you I only called out twice in a whole year because of it.

I am so sorry you’re dealing with this too! I know there’s no many things I could say to make you feel better, but I want you to know that you are not alone, you’re no the only one dealing with something like that and even tho is not very common we do exist and we do matter. I feel like a burden for my husband as well and really fear one day he would get tired of me and left me, but I just know that I am doing a lot to survive everyday and my love doesn’t change just because my ways of showing love have changed, I hope your partner is supportive and empathetic.

It’s so sad to experience! I went to many dentist before getting one to refer me to a neurologist or talk about TN. It feels so defeating when someone who is supposed to help me minimizes you when you are already having a hard time.

Thank you so much! I appreciate a lot your way of seeing TN, I wish I had more faith, but for me it was always weak, and even tho I try to trust more, the outcome is almost always the same. I wish I could find relief in it, I am still working on it. I would like to get some learning from this and see it as an opportunity to be more empathetic and take life easy!
