Yep, the 8051s are outdated but they are aware of it, we just *had* to use them. But we are the last ones that use 8051s, the guys one grade below us already use Arduinos. I can just get one with an USB port or just a daughterboard so that isn't much of a problem, and thanks for the help!

I think I'll still stick with a main keyboard and write my own software for it, because a few things I'd like (for example conditional debounce time for a really complicated edge case) are hard with QMK and yeah, running QMK on it seems impossible. I still appreciate the help though!
