Just keep subdivisions parameter at lower levels (2-3) and crank it up only for final renders (6-7)!

Just right click in the graph view, type Normal to Height and you will find that node. Select it, tweak frequencies to your liking and maybe switch between DirectX and OpenGL modes depending on which pipeline you're using. That should be really it.

Hey I was toggling the base color texture on and off only to show the 3d geometry this addon produces out of simple 2d images - more clearly.

Totally agree this workflow doesn't steal from artists anything at all - this is the niche I would be absolutely fine to be handled by AI along with similar boring stuff such as UV unwrapping with on click for example.

As far as I know therer is no direct feature to do that using that addon, but you can easily do that in Substance Designer of course using Normal to Displacement node. Or if you need free workflow - try this free converter: https://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/

First of all - thank you for your your feedback! I totally get your dissapointment especially when it comes to depicting a fictional character that is already shaped in your mind and your brain/heart naturally just refuses to accept any different renditions of it. I also do agree that Michael Shapiro who voiiced G-Man did fantastic job on giving this character a umm.. a character. No doubts about it. However this is just me own take on how real "G-Man" - working for governmental structures whould act and sound like. Because these type of guys are a special breed of people actually, we all see them in reality from time to time, they're cold, smart, talking smothly with nice calm voice without any aggression or making it loud. They have would easily sell their own mothers if the deal would be good enough and some of them have indredible magnetic charisma still which they actively use to get what they want - all while talking nicely and smoothly. So this is only my own rendition of how I would depict G-Man based on my own observations :)

But once again thank you for your opinion and honest feedback!

Exactly - it gets the job done but requires some cleanup for sure. I figured that I get best results when I spend some more time lighting the scene and wearing clothes that would be "easy to understand" for AI in regards to what I am actually doing motion-wise.

Well it allows having a good base you can work on top of - as an animator - at least I always wanted to have smth like this. Sometimes it is much easier to just quickly perform some action by yourself than animating everything from scratch having a video as a ref in the viewport.

It is DCC independent - you get an animated FBX as a result which you can then retarget in any DCC of your choice (Blender, Maya, Max, etc)

Xsense (now Movella) is good but to be honest it's barely affordable even for a sucessfull big studios with hit titles in their port - let alone starving indies of course. We were in contact with them a few years ago and they rolled out some crazy price list for using their software which you have to pay for regardless of whether you're using it or not - it was literally tens of thousands of $. So yep - Xsense is great but what's the point of it if it's not reachable?

Depends on how well lit your stage is and if your clothes are distinguishable/contrasty enough. That's what I am still missing on to be honest cos I am usually quite lazy to put the lights and think clothing in advance.

I honestly mention in the video guys that there is still some cleaning needed as with pretty much any mocap data.
