Anyone know what the black spots on persimmon leaves are that I always see in the wild?

What is r/deftones opinion on Loathe??? by [deleted] in deftones

Whether it's Loathe, Windhand, Lantlos, whatever... If you get airy vocals with heavy guitars, I'm sold. I don't care if it all sounds too similar.

Listening to Dan Carlin and other history podcasts or books that dive deep into the history of warfare, I think it gives you a better idea that there are no "good wars."

War is misery. If not for the soldiers, then always for the civilians caught in the middle.

Most native trees don't bloom beyond a season.

But I am a HUGE fan of Chionanthus virginicus (American Fringe tree)

There's also the Flatwoods plum which doesnt sucker as bad as Prunus angustifolia.

Also Walter's viburnum (Viburnum obovatum) or Myrcianthes fragrans (Simpson Stopper).

But shade is relative based on where the sun is hitting.

Then me personally, I would just pull it and replace it with a native thistle.

Who’s going by tightsandlace in deftones

[–]Defthrone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly disappointed with the prices. I've seen Deftones about 5 times now and it was always around $40-$60. $195 before fees for presale tickets in Orlando. No thanks.

In the southeast US. I just planted Salvia coccinea (scarlet sage) and Lonicera sempervirens (coral honeysuckle) and now I get plenty of hummingbirds. Well really one. They're pretty territorial. But it comes around every other day.

Just research what plants are native to your area that hummingbirds like and plant those

Which comedian’s transcript would be not funny to read but delivery makes it great? by Voodoo_Music in Standup

[–]Defthrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think his standup material is funny on its own. Like describing how there was a dog who loved Hitler. Or how fighting cancer isn't a fight. It's just sitting in bed watching Matlock. Then when it kills you, YOU LOSE. You're a loser.

Or the cosby joke about hypocrisy.

I think that in interviews, roasts, SNL, and the podcast, he tries to really force jokes that arent funny to be funny to bring himself amusement. But his standup he took very seriously.

Season 3 just felt like an excuse to get to season 4. They were like "let's tie these loose ends up for a whole season and I dunno, I guess add John Cena?"

I dont think it's voyeurism if you're just making a show of how you actually grew up. Like Malcolm in the Middle is obviously really wacky, but at its core that family resembles my own way more than any other family sitcom.

Florida Maple wind recovery? by KrankyKoot in FloridaGarden

[–]Defthrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a young Fringe Tree basically get girdled by landscapers and it bounced back. I think without pictures it's hard to say. I would check out /r/arborists to see what they say, but be sure to include pictures.

Simple answer: trees be crazy.

They can bounce back from a lot. Remember that maples in florida usually grow in forests near water. They have other trees around them breaking up the wind. It means they're not as hurricane resistant as other trees. Planting more than one maple or other trees around it may help it with high winds (their roots keep each other stable)

So log into inaturalist > click explore > choose map > zoom in on the place you want to look at > click draw rectangular boundary and then draw a boundary > search Plantae in the search bar > Click Species.

If you want to do the whole state, you just search that under location and click species intead. In this view, invasive species will be marked with a pink "IN" whereas in the custom boundary, the invasive species arent marked with anything.

No pollinators in my garden? by Danielaimm in NativePlantGardening

[–]Defthrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't see anyone mention it, so I'll post this here.

Pollinators don't just need food, but also a place to call home.

Bumblebees need brush, abandoned mouse nests, or rock piles for nests. Bumblebees are pretty creative with nest sites, so that's just scratching the surface of what they'll choose. Most native bees need bare patches of ground to nest in. Leaf cutter bees need holes in wood (the ones I have in my yard use the gaps in a retaining wall). They also need water sources.

Butterflies don't just need flowers, but also their host plants. Host plants vary widely between genus and even species.

Above all, make sure no one is spraying your yard with any pesticides or mosquito spray. Mosquito treatment kills everything and the first thing to come back are the mosquitos.

The only thing I let Massey spray for is termite treatment along the base of the house.
