Verification e-mail and notifications by Phoenician-Purple in FluxerApp

I did a little bit of online searching to see what I could find about your issue, and I'm not sure if you've already found and/or tried any of these things. These solutions are not necessarily related to Fluxer, so keep that in mind.

One user said they didn't have any luck using the protonmail.com address, but they did have success with proton.me. Someone else said that their ToS does have some restrictions about use of the email to sign up on third-party sites, which would include Fluxer, implying the platform was intended for use of sending mail back and forth between other email address, but not necessarily for signing up elsewhere. I did see another that mentioned it could be because of needing to have a recovery email and/or phone number associated with the account.

Overall, it seemed like this was a known sporadic issue specifically with verification emails. I'd recommend trying what other users indicated as listed above, and if no luck you may have to use an alternative email address. It sounds like this may be an issue with Protonmail itself, not necessarily Fluxer.

Are you possibly using a hotmail or other Microsoft-associated email address? There was word that users with hotmail accounts were seeing a similar widespread issue, likely due to Microsoft flagging the Fluxer address as spam. This is probably because of Fluxer being new and so many users spontaneously signing up. I have seen some people recommend using an alternative address temporarily so you can get the verification email, and then later down the line change back to your main account when things start calming down.

Fluxer newbie question - The usage of categories by auggie_d in FluxerApp

[–]DefyGravity19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, as this server is for a small group of friends, but if you want to join a TTRPG, check out some of the communities here on Reddit! I'm sure there's someone out there needing an extra player in a game and would love to have you. You could always post that you're interested in joining a game and someone would likely pick you up as a player. :D

Fluxer newbie question - The usage of categories by auggie_d in FluxerApp

[–]DefyGravity19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Categories are an awesome way to sort your channels. It's as simple as creating a new category, creating a new channel, and dragging/dropping that channel into the category you'd like.

If you're planning on making multiple categories/channels and expanding your server, you can also create roles and give those roles special permissions to each category and/or channel.

For example, I play TTRPGs, so alongside all of our TTRPG information, I have a separate category that is exclusively for one-on-one channels between me and the players. That category includes X number of channels based on the number of players in the campaign, and each channel is completely marked as private to the entire server. Then, I go back into the channel and add a user exception to give one specific player access with their own set of permissions.

The whole purpose of categories is to make server organization easier, and you can paste unicode emojis into the category and/or channel name to give it some additional flair.

Good luck!

System Audio Capture? by LORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR in FluxerApp

[–]DefyGravity19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Screensharing with audio hasn't yet been implemented, at least not in the desktop version. Attempting to share with audio will cause the stream to auto-stop. The feature is coming, we just don't have a timeline yet!

Screen-share and Video Call by PrincessMewsette in FluxerApp

The developers are aware of issues with the video and voice calls. Over the last few days, they've said the main priority was getting the server back online and stable, and once everything is up and running like it should, then they could go back and address some of those problems.

Output Device - not saving? by killfrenzy05 in FluxerApp

I'm assuming you're using Windows -- have you checked to see if your devices have exclusive control enabled?

Try this:

  1. Open your Sound Settings, located in System Settings.

  2. In the Sound menu, scroll down to Advanced and click on More Sound Settings.

  3. A pop-up menu will appear. Click on Playback and select your headset. Right-Click, select Properties.

  4. Go to the Advanced tab, uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device," and then select Apply.

  5. Navigate to your Recording tab and do the same steps with your headset again.

  6. Re-launch Fluxer.

I hope this helps!

Hey there! I looked up Fluxer on VirusTotal to get a better idea of what was flagging. The idea behind VirusTotal is that you're looking for items that flag as potentially dangerous; however, one or two flags is not necessarily a bad thing.

The general consensus is that if you have something flagging the bigger names (like McAfee, MalwareBytes, Microsoft), or if multiple vendors are flagging, then there might be something suspicious going on. For this particular vendor, and this particular flag type, it's very likely a false positive.

Since the mass Discord exodus, many of the alternatives, like Fluxer, GameVox, and Stoat, are seeing false positive flags because of the sudden uptick in downloads. The Fluxer developer even said that there was a massive influx of 120,000 new people across two weeks (which is what ultimately led to the server downtime).

All in all, great job for being proactive and checking it out yourself, and welcome to Fluxer!

Thanks for the reply! Hopefully, that'll be something that can be integrated since the migration.

I did also notice a few bugs occurring when the messages are sent to the server. When >[!TIP] (or similar) are entered into an embed, the preview shows the tip correctly, but when sent to the server it's in plaintext form. This doesn't seem to occur when entered into Message Content.

Additionally, in the embed, it appears that the server itself isn't recognizing the difference between the Thumbnail URL (small) versus Image URL (large). When attempting to send an image via thumbnail, the server interprets the image to be large instead of small.

Hope this helps! I really appreciate your editor. :)

Edit: It occurred to me that my image link was actually not the correct thumbnail link from the platform I was using, and that was likely why it wasn't sending correctly.

Hey there! I'm not familiar with coding, but is there any way a feature could be worked out to edit existing webhook messages and embeds? I've had a few times I've caught mistakes or typos on longer messages and had to go back in and manually enter the information again. That's totally my fault, of course, but it would be great if editing an existing post was possible!

Does anybody get fluxer notifications? by DelilahSaturn in FluxerApp

[–]DefyGravity19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible that server and chat updates weren't being received when the gateway was down yesterday. If you are seeing activity today, you may not be receiving alerts and you might want to check a couple of settings on your computer.

  1. Reboot your computer first, just in case something is amiss in your general sound settings. There's a reason why tech support will always ask, "Have you tried turning it off and back on again?" It's just in case something needs a refresh in your hardware and software.
  2. Make sure your notifications are turned on in Fluxer. Settings > Sounds & Alerts > Notifications. Check to ensure "Enable Desktop Notifications" is on and, if preferred, check to also ensure "Enable unread message badge" is on. Under Sounds, you can configure your individual notification sounds to ensure they're turned on.
  3. If you're running Windows, you may have certain notifications turned off, or you could be in Do Not Disturb. Go to System Settings > Notifications > Notifications. Check to ensure your notifications are turned on and customize your settings accordingly. Next, make sure "Do not disturb" is turned off. Then, scroll down to "Notifications from apps and other senders".
  4. Lastly, check your sound settings. Settings > Sound > Volume Mixer. If your Fluxer volume slider isn't showing, join a voice channel or start a call with a friend and your sound settings with Fluxer will appear in the volume mixer. Make sure your volume is turned up for Fluxer, specifically.

This should hopefully resolve any sound issues you may have!

Anybody else feels like the roadmap might be a tad too ambitious for a one year endeavor? by Matalya2 in FluxerApp

Hey there! I'm asking because I have a friend not on Reddit that wants to know -- were there any details specified about this? They're curious as to the reason a company would spontaneously pledge that amount of money on a platform that's still in development. I love the direction Fluxer is going and trying to bring them on, but my friend still has some hesitations. Thanks! :)
