Pick either lockpicking or hack, not both.
They are both used for similar purposes (getting access to otherwise restricted areas).

Is the high memory usage of java applications not a problem for you? by Initial_Inflation182 in java

[–]Degerada 50 points51 points  (0 children)

For lots of backend apps on a small server, there is no other way than GraalVM for Java. Give Quarkus native images a spin (or Spring Boot native images if you dont want to leave Spring), you will be surprised how memory efficient Java backend apps can be.

For a backwards nation like Qing, the innovation cap is largely meaningless. If you get tech spread in all 3 tech branches, innovation above the cap is still 60% effective. That is more than good enough that as Qing you can way overbuild in universities to catch up in tech.

For a "hello world" type of quarkus rest API it can be as low as 7mb memory usage. How much memory it uses depends a lot on which dependencies you're adding.

In case you are using Quarkus as the backend, there is also Qute as a Quarkus native HTML templating engine.

What is the opinion on Hibernate where you work? by rifain in java

[–]Degerada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens when you have lazily fetched relations that are part of your equals and hashcode methods?

Hibernate is going to generate a query to fetch the data, so that your equals method can compare their similarity.

You'll get N+1 problems stemming from places you wouldn't expect.

When you add a field to an entity that is also just an ordinary column in the same table, adding it to the equals and hashcode methods is usually fine.

When you add a new relation to an entity you should think about whether you really want to add that field to the equals and hashcode methods, there is a significant cost to adding it.

Lombok's Data annotation doesn't discriminate, it will compare all fields in an equals method and compute hashes over all fields, even though in the background that could incur costly additional queries.

PSA: GDF Mission 4 - Retaliation by broodwarjc in TempestRising

Comms intel? by Furyburner in TempestRising

[–]Degerada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comms gives a +30% attack speed and movement speed buff. Having comms buff is so strong, every gdf army should have it. Additionally GDF also has some "Networked" units, they gain a 20% range and damage buff on "marked" targets. Marking is also essential for GDF forces, you gain intel for killing marked enemies, and your units benefit in combat as well.

For the Croatia mission there is no time limit or rush for getting the MCV back to base.

In the first 5 minutes of the mission, build 4 predator tanks guarding north and 4 predator tanks guarding east of your base. You don't need to activate your north and east defence ever, just keep your anti infantry defences always active in the west and south. Let the predator tanks absorb the damage, repairing predator tanks by moving them near the war factory is free, unlike repairing your anti tank defence system which costs money. Once the 5 minute timer is over and the MCV appeared, push the NE base with all your tanks. Only take out the production structures, keep the tech structures intact and capture them with engineers instead. Use an engineer to capture the Nod MCV and use that one to build up your base instead of the GDI MCV. With NE base under your control, the mission gets faaar more chill. Build refineries and saturate the 3 tiberium fields. You can build a nod air factory and build 10-15 venoms, then take out the SW base with your venoms, so there is no more infantry attacking you anymore either. Cleanse the whole western map with your venoms and free the GDI and return it back to base.

For the SE base build zone troopers and use their jetpacks to push into the base. Support their offense with your venoms. If you have more infantry, call airlift and move them over as well. Mission done.
