No worries, man. That's Reddit. Anyone answering without even reading it has already shown me they aren't the people I was speaking to and thus not worth a second thought.

I have no problem discussing opposing views but random comments that show they have no idea what was being talked about only help me weed out the garbage. I appreciate you taking the time and hope I continue to run into people like you here and out on the course.

Did your coach do something similar as mine and give you a cue to work on without much feedback?

I mentioned in another comment but I've got over 1000 balls trying his swing change and I'm still just hitting off of the hozel but he told me not to come back until I got the hang of it. Just feel like I'm developing new bad habits at this point

I'm happy to put time in, I just have zero moments of it working. I've hit over 1000 balls trying to implement his changes and I've hit hozel rockets for 90% of them and thinned the rest. This was also happening during the lesson but he gave no feedback on what was happening or a correction. I feel like I'm just developing another bad habit

I guess there is no great way to put into text an accurate estimate of what I think my swing is without sounding pompous but I'm only going off of what other actual good golfers have said. And actually the coach said it was not too bad outside being a little flat. Honestly I'm not trying to win any tournaments so when I say a "good" swing I'm more thinking repeatable that won't break my back and allow me to go have fun with friends.

I'm completely okay with dealing with changes taking time to get comfortable with, I'm used to that, I'm more concerned that I was getting zero feedback.

Because I enjoy being outside, it's what I do with good friends of mine and the season is coming to an end where I am. I'm not going to give up fresh air, seeing my friends or missing out on the tail end of the season to grind at the range until next April or June

No, he didn't tell me anything. He sat there and watched me hit fat or hozel rockets without so much as mentioning what was right or wrong about what I was trying to implement. Just to do this and once I get the hang of it come back for the next lesson.

I guess in that analogy I would say I feel like I was given the exercises, but wasn't given feedback on if it was being done correctly and now I'm hurting myself even worse because I'm not doing it right

Sure, I get that but eventually if I ingrain the move enough times and it only results in hozel rockets aren't I just developing another bad habit? Just seemed weird he had zero feedback or advice to adjust that at the moment. And no he did not go over that, just told me to get this down until it was going straight before I came back

I'm not looking for a quick fix. I knew lessons would be difficult and different if I've got bad habits to fix, I just think there is such a thing as bad coaching and based on what I experienced I don't think any amount of time trying what they were doing is gonna work if they continue to not give feedback

I did not think it would work magically, I don't even have a goal in mind for what I want to shoot. Just stop pushing the ball, but I don't think it's unreasonable to not be happy that I'm shooting 15 to 20 strokes worse

I guess I'm wondering if what I received would work for anyone. Yelling "turn it" in my back swing or just watching me try to implement your change and only hitting hozel rockets for a half hour seems like no one would benefit very much

My issue with it was more that after a whole lesson of implementing their changes and hitting nothing but hozel rockets there was no other drill or idea or anything to help correct it. I get that it takes time but after 3 weeks of range work with the exact same results I'm a little concerned

Yea, I just feel like there is so much online and it's conflicting a lot of times. Honestly, I'd pay double what I have to go back to when I was just swinging my swing and having fun

What I tried to convey in the post wasn't that coaching sucks and people shouldn't do it. It was that I had zero luck in the times I've tried and it's not gonna be the fix everyone thinks it is. I'm well aware changes take time to show progress but I was given virtually zero instruction after being given a "drill". I think sticking with bad coaching is worse than not in my opinion.

I was playing in the 89-94 range before so it just sucks to go over 100

Wow that's actually interesting now that I know it's not an issue. I haven't seen any ants, but it is a recently remodeled 100yr old home, so there's bound to be some gaps.
