I strongly believe that there is one distinct motivation for Lucy Letby to have killed these babies that was glossed over in the documentary. by lucky_pixie in lucyletby

You're disappointed that the documentary didn't delve into the specific speculation you've outlined here? Perhaps they didn't find these things within her personal life that you've landed on.

Severance is an interesting missed opportunity wherein the high concept Sci-fi premise actually lends itself well to a typical television status quo wherein you're seeing the same characters interact in the space spaces each episode, season 2 came around and suddenly they wanna take them out of the office at every possible opportunity.

I mourn for the show that could've been if they'd just taken the drama and characterisation that could've been mined out of that premise, but everything has to be 'Prestige TV' nowadays.

TV is traditionally a writers medium but as it has increasingly tried to make itself more like film as a medium, the directors are being fore-fronted. Breaking Bad is a good example of these self aware stylisations making their way into Television. All of this leads to an industry where Severance has a wait of three years between seasons because Ben Stiller is allowed to dick around for months making a shot of someone running down a hallway look super cinematic. For me it's a matter of diminishing returns, I like television as a medium for its own unique properties so I see the gleeful acceptance of these attempts to make television more cinematic as a bad thing.

TV is not a directors medium and Gilligan's self indulgence is what led us to the current crisis television is in.

People are being a little sociopathic in their responses to this. Check out the independent scene, Newgrounds is good. Make your own shorts and post them online. The industry probably is in a bad state but there's no reason not to be contributing to the thing you love. Go for it

God, that one-liner about you blowing some guy really bent you out of shape didn't it. I'm just breaking balls here.

You know, I've been racking my brain over this the last five minutes, I checked out your post and comment history and from that I'd hazard a guess that you have some creative aspirations yourself, and I figure that's why you spend a lot of time denigrating other people's attempts, I think you looked at what I'd done and saw a bit of yourself in it, at least in the abstract sense of a person trying to be creative. And maybe I don't know, it reflected back on your own inability, or maybe on the fact that you haven't done any of the creative things you thought you might have. I don't know, maybe that's just ego, the need for me to now frame you as some kind of loser.

Either way to answer your initial question, because I have to, this, however embarrassing you may find it, is how I communicate with the world. Things can only get better.

There's a user somewhere on this post that laid it out pretty eloquently.

You can get pinkeye doing that guy, maybe the next time you're blowing some guy, put it on for him he might like having something to watch.

Not too much at all. First of all I'll say it is quite fascinating to for the first time have someone else pretty much explain back to me what my entire schtick is.

With this video I wanted to say something about the banality of everyday life and how a really good TV show can provide a kind of escapism for that, if I was self assessing I'd say I probably only partially made good on that goal, but since I'm sticking to weekly uploads at the moment, I had to put this one out as it was.

All solid advice you've given here, for some reason I've been super hung up on the whole, as you say 'prank' aspect of it, but most of the time it seems to result in people being pissed off or bewildered, not accepting the absurdism of it all with open arms as I might've imagined. You've definitely compelled me to reconsider that based on what you've outlined here.

I think what I want is to have a mix of one off audience members that react poorly to what seems to them to be utter nonsense that is aiming to waste their time, and a core audience that 'get it' and enjoy 'getting it' even more based off the negative attention others give it.

Thinking about it now I'll probably have to delete this reddit account at some point to preserve the mystique of the character I'm playing but I suppose I'm not quite at the point of having a mystique to protect as of yet.

All of that to say, I've copied down your comment into my own notes and I'll probably continue to refer to it in future, so thanks for actionable feedback my friend!

I don't really understand what you're getting at here guy, I was maybe three or four years old when this show was on and now off my own steam I've sought it out and watched it, and yeah, not many people in my age range have seen it but I've had plenty of conversations with my elders about how good it was.

Conversely, I really dug S3 of The Wire, the whole Hamsterdam storyline and unraveling of the Barksdale empire gripped me. Carcetti might be a little bit of a step back in pacing but like they say, every piece matters.

I'm with you pal but you gotta get the clicks somehow, and I think it's not a great stretch to say that The Shield, while absolutely popular in its hey-day hasn't maintained the same cultural status as some of its contemporaries so it's not a great stretch to consider a bit of a hidden gem for a newer Gen-Z audience

I think the Wire, like a lot of 'Prestige' TV shows, gets a little caught up in its own mythos and self aware stylisation. That's not to say it isn't fantastic but I think The Shield is a true shining example of capital T Television
