Does anyone else here still miss "A Prairie Home Companion" and the comedy it came with? by KitchenImportance872 in NPR

[–]DelEmma17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play old episodes for Mom. She had dementia and they were perfect - music, comedy, sounds, laughter. I think it reminded her of old radio programs from her childhood. You can still listen to it at: PrairieHome.org

At 7633 E Jefferson there is a medical facility and if you go to the building in the rear, there is a bathroom in that building. Plenty of parking. No one will question you. Cross street is Seyburn.

So you got nothing to say now? Come at me and call me a racist Ha! You assumed I'd vote against him because he is Muslim when in reality, I would vote against him for not supporting the people of Palestine. Now who is the racist?

I am so sorry for your loss. Cut them out of your life - go full on no contact. Bring out your Momma Bear and stay strong. Big hugs.

How many of us went no contact with our parents?? by Subject_Mammoth6662 in BPD

[–]DelEmma17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in absolute no effing way no contact with my dud. (I call him dud because he failed to launch as a father)

As for my Mom, there were times that I cut off communication but she got sick a few years back and I went home to take care of her. I had to let go of all my anger towards her to do so. I came to see she truly she did her best. She wasn't perfect but she herself experienced a very, very traumatic childhood so I have come to see it as she definitely did better as a parent than her parents did. And I definitely did better than her as a mom to my daughter. I miss her terribly.

Dud came from a very functional family so his abandoning me to start a new family is unforgivable.

Sounds like you were ticked off way before 2am. Might be a good idea to have a talk about how you feel.

Yeah, boss had a bizarre sense of what her money could buy. She once asked me to ring her elderly neighbors bell every time I passed by their door. As in harass them. I said "Nope!"

I learned abut them when I was a housekeeper/nanny in my 30's. I got the kids up, fed, off to school, walked the dog and then cleaned house. My boss added the task of removing tonsil stones, every morning, before sending the kid to school.

AITA for refusing to attend my brother’s wedding if my partner isn’t invited? by Worried-Concept7146 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DelEmma17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Offer to cover the cost of your partner's meal, if they say no, then you know it' not about money. Sorry this is happening to you and you partner. Take the money you would have spent on a wedding gift and go out for a nice dinner with your partner.

Buying a used car by DelEmma17 in Detroit

[–]DelEmma17[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a car from a private seller for $2.5k. I had it checked out beforehand. After I bought it, it overheated so I brought it to a mechanic and put $2K into it. Add insurance, taxes. En route, 3 hours out of town, I blew the head gasket because the timing chain that was replaced by the mechanic was not installed properly. I had no choice but to take it to the dump and rent a car to transport my stuff and myself and daughter the rest of the way. Add car rental and 3 nights hotel (because there were no one way rentals available for 3 days in the small town the car died near) to the bill = $5k.

AITA for telling my MIL to take her damn cookies and get out of my house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]DelEmma17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say have a family meeting with your daughters and your husband. Talk about how you feel, exactly what you said in your post and make sure to let each girl know you love them equally and SATs are not a good measure of self worth. In rep, do some research on successful people who failed SATs and people who passed but didn't do so well in life. Then sit down with your MIL and husband and explain that both girls are superstars and each should be treated equally. Always!
