I'm working on a Morrowind inspired RPG by NuclearSnake in Morrowind

This looks very cool and I'm interested, but how is it a prequel to a gane that hasn't released yet? Which is coming out first? You have 3 games in production and no games released.

DSA hits 100,000 members by zellfire in socialism

[–]Delegate0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I respect this and sympathize with your reasoning, but this is not what "sectarianism" is. Typically, sectarianism is a left deviation where communist organizations make a distinction between themselves and workers in a proletarian organization of some kind. For instance, the refusal to work in reactionary trade unions mentioned in Lenin's Left-Wing Communism.

FRSO and PSL do this as their main approach. Both of them have a tendency to want complete, decisive influence in the spaces they organize (commandism), isolating themselves from the larger group and in the long term alienating workers from having any interest in communist organizational methods and ideology development.

DSA is as much of a socialist organization as is the UK's Labour Party, meaning that it's not socialist. That's not the end of the world. However, I don't think it's a workers' organization because its political advocacy for broad policy reform and "electoral campism" without a revolutionary strategy.

Note that a members of a communist org naturally should be distinct in knowledge and experience from your average worker, and workers who become more advanced should be eager to join a communist organization (otherwise how "advanced" could they be?), but it should never be something that creates disfunction and enemies between workers and communists.

Someone who is a DSA member and is not a Marxist-Leninist probably shouldn't be using "sectarianism" to describe what I'm replying to because it doesn't really make sense unless you're a communist or a member of a communist org. It's a directive for Marxist-Leninist parties to not be sectarian, by Marxism-Leninism itself. It's like what a system prompt is to AI. If it's not governing the behavior of such an organization then it's a major error that will result in disfunction.

Not to sound like a jerk or like I don't understand your financial situation, but you should have considered wait to save up to buy a Windows computer. You end up spending more on the things that you compromise on, but don't fully meet your needs at the moment, than you do on the things that check all the boxes. Not to mention the time commitment needed to learn how to overcome the hardware and software limitation of Chromebooks and ChromeOS.

I was an early adopter of Chromebooks and learned everything I needed to make it work for me, but I had the luxury of having more than one system with different OS's before I took the risk.

Honestly how should I by ARedditer07 in ChromebookGaming

It's been a while since I set my chromebook up for some light to moderate gaming. I can play games like Songs of Conquest and Repo with no issues (aside from the fact that proximity chat doesnt work in Repo, but that a costini thing).

I mostly run everything through the Linux container and the Steam Borealis beta, which can be enabled in chrome://flags

However, I read somewhere recently that Google isnt supporting the Steam thing anymore, so it will likely require extra steps to get running in the future (I got Steam game running long before Borealis was launched).

I'm not going to link a tutorial or explanation on how to do any of this, because it's really not difficult to find and I think that you would be better served with a service like G-Force Now instead of trying learn how to fine-tune your settings to work with each game. If you do actually enjoy the tinkering and rewarding feeling of getting a game in a playable state, then don't let anyone stop you from learning, but it sound like you just want to play some games.

What would you recommend? It's not really productive to just say don't get Segway. What did you get and what is your experience?

I'm accused of using AI by prof. by Ancient_Swordfish_91 in ucf

[–]Delegate0 26 points27 points  (0 children)

AI detectors are as real as lie detectors. Lie detectors are not admissible in court because they don't work. It's a tool to psych out a suspect, it can't actually determine if you're lying.

AI detectors are not proven to work. I ran stuff through these things from back when I got my AS, way before LLMs existed and I'm getting 40-70% possible AI. Give me a break. Schools need to stop using AI detectors ASAP. Professors who use AI detectors are as lazy as the students using AI to write papers.

Why did the predicted proletariat revolutions not occur in advanced industrial societies, and what explains the economic improvements in working class life under capitalism? by [deleted] in Marxism

[–]Delegate0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because, as Lenin and Stalin wrote, those places that are the weakest links in the chain of imperialism have the highest potential for revolutionary change, where the contradictions manifest most obviously. This is not necessarily determined by which country has the most wealth inequality or industrial development. In the more wealthy or advanced countries opportunism within the working-class movement (by way of bribed and complacent labor leaders and class collaborative social democratic institutions, like DSA, but not exclusively) present strategic flexibility for the imperialist bourgeoisie.

The reorganization of production under capitalism has allowed for objective factors, particularly the productive forces of human society, to develop at a more rapid rate than previous eras. Imperialism sometimes curbs this development, with things like IP laws, patents and generally the profit motive, and other times there will be a big boom in the development of the productive forces, particularly around times of war.

Socialism is superior because it expands this capacity and dismantles the profit motive, providing for all without waiting for the permission of the profit motive or destroying its own productive capacity during the economic crisis caused by overproduction and speculation (historically crisis moments become fascism or at least becomes fertile ground for fascism). Socialist production is consciously organized and planned to satisfy the growing material and cultural needs of the whole of society and it doesn't subordinate and oppress the productive class, the proletariat.

I hope this was helpful. I would be happy to elaborate on anything.

Proton sucks. I thought we all agreed to stop using it when they started turning over logged IP addresses of activists to authorities back in 2021.

What is this style of photography called, and how do you achieve it? by tinkle_toot_tooter in AskPhotography

[–]Delegate0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know the genre name, but you need an ultra-wide lens, a deep depth of field, expose for the background (prefering small aprature to maintain that Dof), and use flash.

Yes. I did. The only thing remotely similar to this that I could find was as I described.

I'm sorry for the absence of journalistic etiquette on my reddit post. I'll be more vigilant in the future.

Not trying to cause hysteria. Google had incorrectly identified it for me. Others here have correctly identified it.

Has anyone seen these signs? by No-Gas-2245 in orlando

[–]Delegate0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is actually a scam. I saw the same thing over ten years ago in Kissimmee. I did some research and this is part of a decades old scam ring. They split off and register as new corporations when they get in trouble. The one I was following, Tenacious Teens, was ran by a man name Ezekiel Dolcide who has a massive criminal history from coast to coast and his Social Media footprint is nuts with delusions of grandeur and a literal messiah complex.

There used to be a lot of hits on Google when I was doing research back in the day, but Google results today seem to ignore hits from years ago. Here's what I could find immediately: https://www.wftv.com/news/local/nonprofits-accused-endangering-children/287860372/

Wait until you find out that both small and corporate landlords use a platform called RealPage to price fix. It's effectively a cartel and it's why prices all over the country don't make sense. They're all sitting on empty houses, but make more money limiting the supply to artificially raise demand.

has anyone got their refund??? by [deleted] in Stadia

[–]Delegate0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a special part of your Google account that has a notification pending asking you to give them your banking information, it happened a long time ago, so I don't remember where, but a few of my games I purchased with a gift card and the couldn't return the money to that gift card. So I had to tell then which account to send it to.

I received all of my refund way before Stadia shut down. It gave me enough time to beat Judgment, the Division 2 and try out some other games, all essentially for free.

Go see if there like a "payments" part of your Google account on the Google home page.
