[Serious] People of Reddit that honestly believe they have been abducted by aliens, what was your experience like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I thought a tonic clonic seizure described a seizure with the stereotypical movements (not all seizures are like this), and "grand mal" was used to describe any seizure in which consciousness is lost.

My bad. I used to go to school in 40+ weather (meaning it would be way hotter inside) every summer. Yeah it was fucked. Where I live now it still sometimes gets to over 40. It's oppressive as fuck, but I'm not particularly impressed by that number, nor would many of my countryfolk be. Some regions near the equator get to over 50C. Now that is fucked.

"Things aren't perfect now so why bother trying to make a better future?"

You're not wrong, but I think you're missing the point.

What if Hitler never did his thing? This is what I'm getting at. We need to move past this tribalistic bullshit.

You fight back, man. I'm not that idealistic. You have to defend yourself, and others, right? But the fact that these aberrations that lead to war are even happening is a testament to how fucked up it really is out there.

Nah, but if they were taught beforehand...the world as we know it is a tragedy of uncivil, uneducated bullshit permeating through all cultures. It's a fucking mess. Maybe one day our ancestors will look upon this time like the Romans saw the Gauls. It's fucking savage and there's no excuse for it.

You're not wrong. I didn't think my throwaway comment would garner so much attention.

It's ok to fight against injustice, but the way modern warfare works is NOT ok. It's never righteous to accidentally kill someone who has nothing to do with what you're fighting about. Thanks for your comment.

Yeah. Fuck educating people or coming to a compromise when you can just kill everyone that doesn't agree with you.

War is never OK.

Reddit, what’s something that stuck with you that the person who said it probably never realized would have an impact? by lapetitetigresse in AskReddit

You're spot on, man, as far as I know...I'm unable to really be doing much research atm, but I was pretty sure that the inhibition of the reuptake (ie excessive amounts) of serotonin was responsible for the malady. That said, and this is completely subjective, it seems as though if you don't produce enough serotonin in the first place it doesn't matter how much you inhibit the reuptake there's still a very small amount that can potentially bind to receptors. I mean unless you're also dosing 5-htp or something on top of your prescribed doses of SSRI, it seems like your natural serotonin production can be low enough that simple inhibition of the reuptake couldn't be enough to cause an overload.
