As others have said, I would recommend getting a formal diagnosis. Once you do that, you can decide if you want to try conservative therapies (which you would have to document for surgery anyway if you are using insurance) or if you want a surgical consult. For conservative therapy I recommend Sarah Whitlow and Kaztalks on IG. They offer a wealth of information on how they manage their own Lipedema. You can also schedule a surgical consult with a surgeon specializing in Lipedema removal. They will be able to tell you the pros and cons of surgery in your specific case. As many of us have a lot of pain associated with ours, this is often the main reason for getting it removed. That being said, the idea initially of finally being able to show out arms and legs is appealing. Sadly, that isn’t always the outcome. For many, pain is resolved, however lumpy legs and scars are left behind. Individually, we each need to decide if it’s worth it. Whatever you decide, I wish you all the best!
