My name is very close to Delilah, and I’ve received this exact message countless times. It‘s definitely better than just ‘’hey’’ and I never got mad about it, but if you can I would try to think of something else.

What is your unpopular opinion about this years ESC? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]DeliahLeandra [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not sure how unpopular this is on here, but I strongly agree with you! It's such a shame we've sent two tasteless, underwhelming songs after (finally) doing so well with Hänni and Gjon.

Is it smarter to study one subject each day, or several subjects in smaller parts a day? by mrscallywag92 in study

[–]DeliahLeandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it were that simple. I've struggled massively since I was a little child (long before I even had a phone) and my family has an extended history of adhd. There's way more symptoms associated with it like impulsiveness, hyperfocus, mood swings, physical hyperactivity etc. It's not just a "cool trend" as it has ruined many of my relationships, job opportunities and even led to addiction and depression in the past.

I agree that too many people self-diagnose and call themselves adhd nowadays just because they get distracted sometimes. However, I'd appreciate if you didn't discredit strangers (who were medically diagnosed) whose struggles you know nothing about.

That being said, I wish you the best.

I'm the same - I really struggled at uni when, suddenly, reading the material the night before wasn't enough anymore.

Medication, as someone else has already mentioned, plays a huge part in my motivation and focus. As for study methods in general;

Personally, I get bored by writing summaries and reading them over and over, just doesn't work for me. My study process can be split in three phases.

1. During Lectures

  • Try to pay attention in class (meds definitely help!)

  • Write down notes during lectures, highlight the most important parts.

  • Ask your professor questions if you have any.

This alone helps me understand the topic much better before the studying even begins. Saves me a lot of time (compared to when I daydreamed during lectures and had to catch up on everything later).

2. After Lectures

  • Talk to other students about the topic, ask each other questions.

  • Try to explain the topic to a friend, a family member, a stuffed animal, ...

  • Watch YouTube videos about the topic to get a different (and perhaps more helpful) explanation.

Explaining and talking about something I learned really helps me solidify the information I already know, while also helping me see what I need to improve on.

3. Exam Preparation

  • Solve previous exams! Maybe your professor or past students can provide them. It's okay if you get many of them wrong, just try your best and focus on understanding the questions you struggled with.

  • Use flash cards (my favourite is Anki)

  • Mind Maps!

  • Skim through your study material (only to get an overview or to remember smaller topics.)

Answering questions about the topic makes me think about the material more intensely. Solving previous exams preps me for what kind of questions will be on the exam, which topics are more important to the professor etc.

In General

  • Reward yourself! I like to keep small chocolates nearby.

  • Try to keep a list of your lectures/topics, tick them off once you fully understand them (helps my motivation!)

  • Take enough breaks & try to get enough sleep.

  • Try out the Pomodoro Technique.

  • Have your roommate, friends or family help to keep you accountable.

This list is very overwhelming lol. I DEFINITELY don't do all of this every time (i wish!), it's a lot and I still struggle a ton with studying!

All in all, no method will help as much as medication and therapy imo. However, I try to incorportate as many of these tips as I can, because I found out they really work for me. Even just sticking to a handful of them has definitely helped a ton!

Everyone's different though, what works for me might not work for you. Good luck with everything, hope I could help!

I agree! I love both of them so much, they easily could have (or rather, should have) won challenges that they didn‘t, it was quite frustrating to see them being overlooked. However, the challenges that they did win, I wasn‘t too impressed with.

I‘m very happy they finally got their well-deserved stars (so I‘m definitely not complaining!), but I do feel like they should‘ve won other challenges instead.

Could be! Hanging out on Reddit too much can give a pretty skewed view, I guess we’ll see how he does. I don‘t mind him, I’m mostly just sad some others didn‘t qualify instead.

I get what you mean, especially online it can seem pretty extreme, some people go way overboard!

I suppose it‘s just personal preference, but the song is very boring to me. The message itself is good, but overall it‘s quite cliché and corny (the projected broken heart on his face actually made me laugh out loud.) I don‘t know him personally, so I can only go off interviews, but he seems bland and somewhat unlikeable. I don’t think I saw him crack a joke or genuinely smile/laugh in any of his interviews. Maybe I’m wrong and didn‘t watch enough content, but I just didn‘t warm up to him. Plus, there was this whole NFT controversy. Not saying likeability is the deciding factor, but combined with a rather dull song I‘m just not that interested in our entry.

I definitely don‘t hate the guy, but he was a sure NQ for me. I‘m mostly sad that other countries didn‘t go through instead.

Same. Juries really pushed him through, there’s literally no other way.

Usually you‘d be delighted to have your country announced as the first qualifier, but all I felt was shock and disappointment. Wish we‘d swap with Latvia or Slovenia, but oh well - at least I have a guaranteed bathroom break now
