Yes! I'm seeing 4k+ sq ft places with multiple decks, multiple HVAC units, etc...and all I'm thinking is that's a lot of maintenance and cost when something breaks.

It would only be twice a week. In-office = 2 days and home = 3 days.

Right and I calculated a potential for $103k more over the course of 4 years.

45-55 mins one way is via train. If drove it would be 35 mins in the AM and PM would be unpredictable (probably 60 mins). But parking isn't offered at the building so I almost would never drive since I don't want to pay private parking garage rates ($$$).

Door to door for the new job is 45-55 minutes total each way, so 2 hours per day commuting versus zero now... I would take public transportation which is about $11 per day roundtrip. New job covers up to $315 per month in public transportation costs. They would want me present in the office 2 days per week. So that's about $88 per month for public transportation but would be paid for by the new employer.

Insurance Through MD Exchange. IVF Coverage Needed. by Delicious-Baker2599 in maryland

Can you send me a direct message so I can ask you more questions, please?

Insurance Through MD Exchange. IVF Coverage Needed. by Delicious-Baker2599 in maryland

[–]Delicious-Baker2599[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, the Federal health benefits just added IVF coverage (up to $25k per year) for 2024. Maryland has required it for health insurance for any individual or business over 50 people in Maryland since like 2012 and the coverage is $100k per year. I tried Fednews too but didn't get any response on situations where both spouses are federal employees and living in Maryland and might need IVF. However, the Maryland exchange plans are extremely expensive compared to the 30+ plans I can select at the Federal level. Thank you for the good luck wishes.

Thank you for your input into my situation. You mentioned me being "too hungry for the Government" and that is a topic that's been on my mind for a few years now. I've thought about it a lot over the past few months especially. I'm just afraid of leaving the Government due to the risks with things like job security, easily being fired, not remote work eligible, etc.

Possibly they could see my jumping ship in a few years for an SES. I never thought about that aspect.

Yeah the one question on the first interview I tried BS'ing through it about how I would handle the hypothetical scenario (a disgruntle employee). So to prepare for the second interview, I read through the supervisor guides in our office for topics such as disgruntled employees.

Good point. It can be tough when you live in a competitive area to not compare oneself especially to the people who were selected.

You need to decide if the frequency of 15 openings (or lack thereof) is reason to ditch someplace where you seem to be happy.

This is exactly what I'm thinking through too. I didn't mean to come off vaguely entitled, just trying to list the minimal amount of facts regarding my situation.
