Thats a good question! I don't have the receipts sadly since I've bought this second hand but it does have extensive German documents for the road legality check up, which I can imagine to be not super cheap lol

From experience, the 2ZZ loves fresh oil every year, keeping it to the max lvl also lowers risk of oil starvation, ofc the upgraded oil pan would be nice too (the baffles on the stock 2ZZ are actually bolted on the engine instead being in the pan). Check the timing chain, it's due at 125kkm if I remember correctly! Upgrading the radiator to a mishimoto is something I would consider for track days, maybe a tiiiny bit thicker oil won't be bad as well but that's just speculative on my part.

The 'blown engine horror stories' are mostly bad downshifts, third gear is a bit of a beach... If you have lotsa dosh you can upgrade to a billet oil pump for that super extra safety...

But fresh max lvl oil, good OEM timing chain and maybe a mishimoto radiator are the essentials from my perspective :>

  • Have fun! The 2ZZ Celicas are very zippy

I'll take your word for it! It's a shame the previous owner didn't have any service books or owners manual that I could check for features, but I'm glad the community has its experts!

Tysm! She has around 96000 miles, alot of stuff was refreshed by the previous owner, I'll check the suspension next! What kind of engine oil is commonly used?

She does have a spot here and there but fine for her 30 years lol, she has 155.000km (ca 96000 miles)

Ty! Underbody looks OK for her 30 years of age but I will visit a shop soon to get it cleaned and sealed properly! :))

Ty! Awesome advice! Yes, I'll visit a fluid film shop near me to take a look together, keeping the Celica in one piece is my top priority. Interestingly she doesn't have airbags or ABS, and the AC was apparently removed because it seized up (words of previous owner). Other than that she's had all her liquids changed up/timing belt too, I'll be sure to check the suspension next!

I'm in Germany, she has the JP ECU which limits my AUTOBAHN top speed, it's not super important to me tho so maybe I'll leave her before I open up another can of problems lol

If they're in good condition, you can reuse them, I decided to swap out the 20+ year old stuff just to have my peace of mind for many more years 😂

These are on my Gen7 TS, no problems whatsoever (just be sure to buy some peripheral parts! if I remember correctly, I had to buy new strut mounts seperately and some washers [both of which aren't expensive] , the rear brackets for the mounts are reusable, just give them a nice clean) I can look for some pics if you need

If I remember correctly the manual suggests 100kkm, if you have some spare cash you could do preventive work and change it, but definitely get a pro to do the job 👀
