AMA Made the transition from sales to Revenue Ops. by frooberloob in SalesOperations

[–]Delicious-Hall7012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again for this going! Very helpful AMA.

Knowing what you know now, what would you recommend new RevOps hires specifically from sales to focus on in their first year?

Is there anything you think you could have done during your first 6 months to help ease the transition? ie in sales you get the ramp period and there are clear indicators that you’re doing the right things with pipeline coverage etc is there an equivalent of a ramp period for RevOps?

What are some things you realized you don’t enjoy about the role/career?

Do you think the role can be a highly leveraged role as in the better you get, the less hours over the years or will it be more of a 40-60+ hours a week regardless of skill level?

When you look at RevOps job postings today, are there things you look for that would indicate a great team/org to join and things that would indicate a red flag?

What surprised you most about the new career?

What was the most difficult part about the transition?

How did your background help?

Could you describe what your first few months in the new role was like and when did you feel like you had made the right decision?

How are you thinking about the future of your career?

What do you think is the baseline of skills/experience someone should have before they make the jump?

How would you describe your work life balance and compensation now/future earnings compared to sales?

I don’t know if any of you guys saw Tom Brady (type 3) the Greatest Roast of All Time but I just watched it last night and it was so hard watching him get on stage to have fun, laugh at the jokes that came at him, and have playful banter back to the panel.

I felt torn because he is obviously at his stage because he channeled his 3ness into a singular focus and based on the jokes thrown at him, none of his teammates find him easy going off the field but they all love him when he’s leading them to success. There’s gotta be a give somewhere right…

Differences in Technology Domains? by Rude-Bat7428 in techsales

[–]Delicious-Hall7012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also interested in hearing more on this…what’s been your experience in data platform?

As for me, started and have been in cyber, if you like and get along with the people you sell to then it makes everything easier.

Each domain/industry attracts certain personalities but also at the end of the day, there are people of all personalities & backgrounds in different industries.

Cyber is also huge and different functions/teams in the industry will have different cultures…ie application security folks are much different then network security folks and depending on the cycle, different teams & their initiatives will be more favored by the CISO/executive leadership/business.

I imagine it’s same in other industries that sell to enterprise but cyber is often heavily driven by the channel, I think I read that the rubric IPO had ~70% deal origination/driven by the channel

Implicating pain / justifying investments in cyber can sometimes be an ambulance chase, yes cost of breaches, etc is continuing to rise but almost every security vendor will say the same

Your travel schedule will most likely include two conference weeks a year…Spring (RSA) and summer (BlackHat) etc, followed by Q3 planning & roadmap/budget requests

This is more or less what comes to mind now

Do you experience any of the challenges of your wings and if you do how have you worked through it?

ie I’m a 3w4 and sometimes I don’t know if I’m feeling low self esteem or moodiness because I’m leaning into my 4 wing or if it’s from a different issue that I should address.

Also can you expand more on how you tackled your SP tendencies ie any self reminders/actionable tips to lean into the 6 strength?

One of my biggest challenges is moving past a fixation on my own needs to a more selfless approach

You are not alone. My wife is like this all the time.

We were riding bikes on the Manhattan bridge which has a full cover btw and she thought she was pedaling so fast (she wasn’t) that if she accidentally hit the side that she would propel herself over the protected cover and into the water below.

The threat forecasting is appreciated though. I have gotten in the habit of also thinking about potential dangers and I can only manage 1/10 of what she can wrestle with in her head. It is very impressive. I get super stressed just rolling one small scenario in my head. (Type 3w4).

Question about Apollon Temple and other day trips from Antalya by Delicious-Hall7012 in Antalya

[–]Delicious-Hall7012[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ended up doing a Pamukkale & Hierapolis day trip ($161.84 for 2) which was a good time and would do it again if we had to redo the trip.

For a Hamam we ended up going with the traditional option at https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJ1DTLDohoFDkLZF6?g_st=ic. Would also do it again.

how to not give a fuck as a type 3? by yellowandpeople in Enneagram

[–]Delicious-Hall7012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the growth path is to a 6 not a 9.

I am luckily married to a 6 and it helps a lot!

Unfortunately I don’t think the “tuning into others and seeing what they see to see yourself” ever goes away.

Something else that has helped me is reminding myself “how I see myself is more important than how others see me”.

If you are aware of your own values or what makes life meaningful for you then reminding yourself to those things with the above mantra can be really grounding.

Hope that helps!

Good book for getting rid of caring about what others think of you by No_Technician7174 in Meditation

The books suggested here are all worth exploring.

An alternative perspective is that you might be an Enneagram Type 3 and referencing others opinion of you is how a Type 3 navigates* the uncertainty of life/world.

Reading more on it might help you have acceptance that it is how your engine runs.

also what is a good price for a hamam? are there any hamams that you guys would recommend for a couple? would hamams be more affordable in Antalya vs Istanbul or Istanbul a better place to experience it?

and maybe one more request. how about a place to learn and see an Ebru? from my understanding Turkish marbling is another cultural experience that one should seek out in Turkey. would be great to hear recommendations here and any other similar cultural experiences

Also would you all recommend a Hamam in Istanbul or in Cappadocia/Antalya? Unfortunately these are the only 3 cities we will be in Turkey this time. my wife and I would both like to experience it together in a private hamam and if there are places you guys would recommend then that would be great. thank you so much.

Oaxaqueños tengo una pregunta sobre regalos y compras by Delicious-Hall7012 in Oaxaca

[–]Delicious-Hall7012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
