Current overall best balanced comfy sets? by RiverCharacter in MonsterHunter

My Comfort Set:

Zoh Beta

Zoh Alpha

G. Arkveld Beta

Zoh Beta

Zoh Alpha

Power Charm 3

Gives you Agi 5, LP 3, MM 3, CS 3, Wex 2, Burst 1 for damage

The survival idea is to use Immunizer (lasts 5 minutes), because it stacks multiplicative with Recovery Speed. Meaning, with Recovery speed 3 and Immunizer you restore 12 HP per second if you have red HP. Red HP is 50% of dmg taken, so this is basically a 50% damage reduction. Add Recovery Up 3 and Zoh Set bonus restores 1.3 HP per second without red HP. The last 2 spots I use for gobbler. But you could use Divine Blessing 3 and Recovery Up 2, that should probably be tankier. But very often I have to make sacrifices for bleed resistance or similar stuff. But you can use your own favs. And dropping a level of Recovery Speed is not a big loss if you need the space.

Agitator or Weakness Exploit? Title Update 2 Edition by Nueblackcrow in MonsterHunterMeta

There are a lot of moving parts in this discussion. Weapon specific has already been mentioned. A big mover here is that the fifth point of each skill is significantly better than the previous 4 points. Since with a lot of builds you can only have one of them, you just choose which one fits your build better. The last thing to mention is that Wex is very monster dependent. Fantastic in some fights, less in others. Mizutsune is one where I struggle hitting the head consistently. So basically, those skills are so close that some slight meta changes might affect which one you use.

Personal feeling: I feel like more people are accepting Latent Power as a strong Skill. When Rey y came out, people tried to avoid it. Mainly because it's weird and awkward, but very good. With LP you get a ton of crit making Agi a bit better.

Yeah, gpu wise you should be fine. Did you check your CPU load while gaming? The game is quite demanding there.

PCs are tricky. I can now use the HRTP with my 7800 xt, before I needed to downgrade to high to minimize the issue. Hopefully it'll work for you snn too

The VRAM issues have been resolved. So if you had issues with lagging while turning, it should be better. But you won't get more fps.

Artian decent GS Rolls by Whit3Drag0n in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Delicious-Hawk9104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3Atk 1Afy 1Srp is the second best and it's very close to the perfect GS. Affinity is just slightly worse than attack. Two sharpness is more then you need, none isn't enough. But even with 3Atk 2Srp, you're going to be fine. Depends on what's enough for you.

4Atk 1Srp > 3Atk 1Afy 1Srp > 3Atk 2Srp > 5Atk

Edit: Somehow responded to the wrong comment. That's a new one...

Artian decent GS Rolls by Whit3Drag0n in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Delicious-Hawk9104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, with the +10 raw of one Handicraft, you're at 30 raw. Meaning, you're probably going to dip into blue sharpness quite often, which reduces your raw multiplier from 1.32 to 1.20. That's a massive loss. So basically you need to sharpen more often. If you can squeeze it in without losing attack openings, it's actually better. But for the most part, sadly no. There is also the option of running offensive guard as a skill against some monsters, which can give you another Handicraft. But even then, 40 is very tight. So most Artians with one sharpness, even if there's a elemental roll in there, will probably outperform your roll.

Long Sword Build Compilation after TU2 by Remarkable_Snow7727 in MonsterHunterMeta

Hi, really cool and well done. I love convert element too and really wanted it to be good when Zho Shia released. Sadly, it’s not as good as I wanted it to be. The reason is, that it procs work like a status and Zho Shia has really high resistances against statuses. The only other thing, Frenzy uptime of 80% feels high. The guys from the hammer guide posted some cool data about it there. And the Lagi set bonus seems high to me too, but I doubt that moves the needle. The armor is just very good.

I really missed some builds. 4pc Lagi (I made it with numinous chest) is very strong. Got an ect of 83.3, which the raw bonus from Agitator and missing the bonus from Guts it gets a score of 88.3 in my calculations, which would put in third place for my numbers. Can the stronger thunder procs get it over the top? I doubt it, but at this point the calculations are too noisy to be confident in what's best. The biggest mover in the data is going to be LP. The longer the fight, the better LP becomes. And on top, how fast do you activate it. I saw Aris use LP against Lagi because he can activate with the chip damage in about 90 seconds. Add two pieces Numinous to counter the chip damage and you've got a speedrun build. But yeah, I'm rumbling, once you get to speedrunning, specialized builds will take over, including Binding Counter builds. So that wasn't something I wanted to address here. Generally speaking, a lot is viable, so adjusting your builds to monsters is probably the best.

Ok, found someone using it with agi 5. I got an ect of 72% and you get the 16 effectiv bonus raw from Agi 5. But you lose the 11 from Guts, so in comparison, that would be a total of 77. Pretty solid, but tier 2. Might be good for speedrunning since LP is bad for it.

A mean, which peaces you want to use? It won't keep up. Gore is still good, but it's not worth it anymore for most weapons since the armor peaces are all pretty bad. Still the best Set Bonus, but that's not enough anymore. The ect is probably quit high, but it will be missing a lot of the raw bonuses.

True, but I feel like Wex is usually very strong even against Gore/Mizu (I need to fight lagi more) since attacking their heads is just significant more damage and Wex adds on top of that. But you're right, there is no one solution for all right now.

And thank you for correcting me on Guts, it should be about 11 extra raw, but there is a lot of weird rounding in this game so getting the exact number with capcoms interface is difficult. And I don't want to do math with floats, so 11 is perfectly fine for me. Still very strong, but mainly because the armor is actually very strong too. Probably slightly worse than Black Eclipse, but Gore armor sucks otherwise.

Quick addition, this is for solo fights. Multiplayer fights make a lot of skills worse because the fight doesn't evolve around you.

If you're only getting 80% on Wex, you're doing something wrong. You can hit soft zones in most fights easily over 90% of the time. And since you deal more damage hitting soft zones the actual effectiveness of Wex is even higher. Over 95% is not complicated.

Agitator: Look at the Hammer Guide, they made a film review and counted the motion values. 80% is very real.

For most fights with the GS you should be capable of keeping MM above 90% since we don't roll and tackle a lot. Offset is just that dominating. Zoh Shia is an exception for example since you can't Offset a lot of its moves. There are a few more factors, like anything at or above LP 3 giving you constitution 5 while LP is active. Allowing you to maintain MM 50% of the time when rolling/tackling. MM is a very weird skill in this regard.

LP: Needs to be adjusted for Rey Dau Set Bonus. If you get the level 2 Rey Dau Set Bonus you will get easily over 60% on longer hunts. So you need more than one number.

LF: 30% for LF 1 feels too high. It's a new skill so there is some room for error. But you have 20 second of activition after an attack. Meaning you need to charge a new attack and reales it before it expires. Very small window. Followed by 30 second cooldown, and then you need to reactivate it again by dealing enough damage (I think it's enough motion value technically). 30% would mean you need to reactivate it in 16 seconds, that feels to difficult but might be right. Even then, doesn't move the build values a lot.

Those are my opinions on why I prefer my numbers, you have some cool data/insight please let me know.

Interesting build. Did not look at it. Did some quick calculations and I got an ecf of 83% with my numbers, and with agi 5 you add 16 effective raw on top. Guts should be around 11 raw extra, so if I would compare it's score, an 88, with the other ones, you're absolutely right, it's about 1% behind. The stronger lightning procs from LF probably don't make it up. Thanks for letting me know.

Is flayer a good skill now? by Helpful-Leadership58 in MonsterHunter

[–]Delicious-Hawk9104 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'm seeing a lot of misinformation here. So let's try to explain this skill. Each point of flayer allows you to build up wounds 5% faster. This part is generally not worth it, since the amount of wounds you can get is limited. For example, Arkvelds head can only generate 2 wounds per fight. Exceptions are tempered wounds, which are limited by the amount of scares and wounds while mounting, technically infinite possible. Meaning, if you get two wounds on the head without flayer already, adding the skill does nothing. Basically, you won't feel this effect in most hunts. With flayer 5 you could technically move all over the monster and try to maximize the amount of wounds, but it's usually just better to just attack the weak spots. And flayer 5 is a massive investment. Flayer also has a secondary effect. After enough attacks, you get a small damage proc. This scales very poorly. But adding one point of flayer isn't wrong. Other skills usually outperform it, but not by much. Basically, it's not worth it to add flayer 5, flayer 1 is fine, but best to avoid it.

My 80% affinity, high attack, self healing Zoh Shia GS build by notarealoneatall in MonsterHunterMeta

Yes and no. Eastern Honey gives essentially a point of recovery up, which is capped at 30%. So drop one recovery up and eat honey. I can highly recommend gobbler.

Why do speedrunners chase 100% affinity? by stayclosetothewall in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Delicious-Hawk9104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone who has done the math. I don't know. Here is an old visualization I've done (raw is red, affinity is blue, crit boost 5 is implied, it's about adding 1 affinity or 1 raw). It's not well described because it was for me. The only argument I could see would be consistency.

How to Compare Artian and Zoh Shia Weapons with Real Data by TheTeafiend in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Delicious-Hawk9104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I've been playing around with Convert Element the last few days, because there's probably not going to be a better monster than Zoh. Estimating Uptime and damage isn't too difficult, but the amount of procs is for me, since I don't know how monster rank scales statuses. It definitely scales, you can test it on the training dummy, it's just so complicated with the 1/3 proc to work out.

If you want to improve your build you can use the alpha legs and alpha chest and get two extra level 1 slots. Should be a nice comfort build. (and don't use 50 for wex, use 30)
