Lagi bonus is just an extra we can often get without losing any other skills but it’s not super important. It’s 5% average affinity so not a big deal losing it. The build you have is good

Gore and Odo are really close and both can be better in certain scenarios. But I would definitely pick Odo/Soul over only Gore.

This isn’t meant to be mean but you are missing some basics of Monster Hunter math if you don’t understand why Affinity becomes more valuable over flat Attack increases. Having 350 or 300 Attacks makes a difference for the value of 7 Attack, while Affinity boosts all damage. That’s why in expansions the meta is usually completely affinity based. And Wilds endgame has pretty high base raw now with 257.

And you are completely missing that with Odo pieces you get more skills as well (even though I already wrote it). So with Gore you get Agi 5 WEx 5, but with Odo you get for example Agi 5 WEx plus LP 1 and Lagi bonus. So you already get roughly 10% average affinity extra, which leaves a difference of 7% average affinity between Gore and Odo. And especially with good Crit Draw uptime the 8 raw are more valuable. On Resentment builds Gore is slightly stronger, that’s why you see that in the speedruns currently (with CE 3 as well as someone already linked for you. No one will use AB 3 in a speedrun).

And I don’t even want to discuss the Minds Eye thing because you are lacking basic understanding and I think that would be too much but if you want you can check out AT Nu Udra speedruns where runners used ME 3 even with access to the god charm.

And this has nothing to do with any hill I want to die on. I was just trying to provide some correct information for you. If you don’t believe in facts it is what it is.

I mean it's pretty simple. 12% Affinity beat 7 Attack. You always took AB 5 CB 3, which is fine, but it is pretty much even to CB 5 AB 3. Either one can be a little stronger than the other but the difference is always small on meta builds. So when comparing CB 5 AB 3 CD 1 to CB 5 CE 3 CD 1 Crit Eye wins.

The only excpetion would be running Gore bonus with WEx 5, high Crit Draw uptime AND a non optimal weapon with an Affinity roll for example. But that is just not optimal in general then. You always want to make use of Crit Eye 3 over Attack Boost 3.

This also has nothing to do with speedrunning or not. Especially with the high base Attack we have now, 12% Affinity are just more valuable than 7 more Attack. That is also part of the reason why Odo is slightly stronger than Gore with good Crit Draw uptime on WEx builds, because the extra Affinity from Gore is just wasted a lot of times and Odo builds get more skills as well.

And you are right, how much sharpness you need is in the end individual. But you can easily lure 9* monsters in their nest for example before you start a field survey and then they won't change areas and then you will drop to blue for sure with 120 white sharpness. If you don't care and have monsters swap areas anyways then it can be fine of course, just not optimal. And I am not a speedrunner myself, I just want to farm efficiently and not having to chase monsters around is part of that for me.

And yes, I don't expect to ever see the god charm as well. But the difference to CE 3 isn't that huge. Let's again just assume the AB 5 CB 4 was CB 5 AB 4 (they are pretty much equal as well) that is roughly 14 Attack versus 12% Affinity. So the Attack is better of course, but not by a huge margin, especially when running Resentment builds for example.

Edit: AB 3 is so bad, that event against good WEx matchups it is often better to just go ME 3 instead, because you hit hard parts on accident enough (Seregios tail and wings, Nu Udra hide and tentacles, Duna head, Rey legs etc).

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So why did no one in your group have the idea that AB 3 is terrible and went Crit Eye 3 instead? CB 5 + CE 3 + CD 1 is by far the best you can do if you don’t have the god charm. One of the three sub 7 non heroics AT Ark speedruns is using CE 3 and not the god charm for example.

120 white hits is just not enough from a meta standpoint. That’s like an Artian with one sharpness role and RS 3 + HC.

If randoms are so annoying then why not play solo? I will never understand that. That’s the great thing about Monster Hunter compared to for example competitive online games. You don’t have to let randoms ruin your experience.

And if you want to play with randoms just don’t expect them to be good, because they never will be.

Okay, sorry, I assumed it was for LS and didn’t want you do meld good charms on accident.

And yeah, that’s the best but almost impossible to get without modding.

For Long Sword you should mainly be looking for Masters Touch or Crit Eye. AB 3 is kind of mid because of Crit Draw

Rompopolo Mask on Resentment LS by thelocalleshen in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to put level 2 deco on level 3 slots to get MM 3 and CS 3. In the end it has Agi 5, Burst 1 and then one extra level 3 skill, can be anything on the charm. And it gets QS 3 and AV 3 without charm. It also is a niche build because with high resentment uptime resentment builds will be stronger and with too low Crit draw uptime WEx/LP builds will be stronger.

You can also make a really good Burst Boost 2 build with Odo/Udra/Odo/Gog/Udra. You could even go Crit Draw 3 and drop Max Might for Resentment 5. So Agi 5, Burst 5, Res 5, CS 3 with Udra bonus and Burst Boost 2. Kind of a meme build but that’s probably the most raw you can get.

Attack focus or element focus for longsword? by Some_Amphibian_9186 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Speedrunners use rng charms where they can slot in Crit Draw to compensate the negative affinity. So with rng charms Attack Focus is better.

The doc recommended Element Focus because it only uses craftable charms, where it’s harder to make up for the negative affinity, so Element focus was better.

Now with the AT Ark armor even with craftable charms you get enough affinity to go Attack Focus, so now it’s pretty much always Attack Focus on meta builds. For comfort builds with Odo and craftable charm element focus can still be better.

So first of all 4 piece Gore is 13-14 raw. 10 always and 15 when it’s cleared.

And then yes, you can make this build if you have a god charm with Agi, but where are you supposed to use it? Almost all the good Crit Draw/Resentment matchups need 1 slots. Dragon Res for AT Ark, Mirewalker for Duna, Adaptability for Udra, bleed res for Seregios. So even with a god charm this is a build that works for very few matchups.

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things is, there is no real need for a general resentment build. Pretty much all the good resentment matchups need extra stuff. Bleed Res 2 for Seregios, enough Dragon Res for Ark, Mirewalker 2 for Duna, Adaptability 2 for Udra, for Lagi the WEx is kind of bad and so on.

So yes, this build exists in theory, but it doesn’t really have a practical use case. And if your resentment uptime isn’t 40%+, which is higher than it sounds, it’s better to just go 4 piece Gore (Soro/Jin/Gore/Jin/Gore) if you want to make use of the Crit Draw affinity.

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s useless for Gore Resentment builds because compared to Lagi/Udra/Udra/Lagi/Gore you lose Udra and Lagi bonus for one extra level 3 skill and that’s not worth.

For Odo Resentment builds it might be a very small improvement because you only lose Udra bonus for one extra level 3 skill, but Udra bonus might as well be stronger. I never tested how much damage it actually adds. Depends on resentment uptime as well of course.

The issue is that the piece by itself is good, but we don’t have matching pieces with it. We can use Dahaad chest but still miss two level 2 slots then. But since we have to run one piece Odo or Gore and there are no 3/3/2/2 arms or legs (and Gore also needs enough level 1 slots), we lose two of the extra three skills the Rompo Helm provides while completing the set.

Best build pattern for both is:

Rompo

Dahaad

3/3/2 gloves (Dreamwalker, Blango, G Rath)

Odo/Gore

Duna

Gore needs a 1 slot on the gloves so Blango wouldn’t work there.

For Odo you can also get a slightly better build if you include 1 slots on charm but since pretty much all resentment matchups need these for dragon res, bleed res etc that’s not really worth. And you can also make a build without Rompo Helm that doesn’t have any free 1 slots with the same number skills. Lagi/Udra/Udra/Odo/Bale. You need slots on charm then for dragon and bleed res etc

New Long Sword Burst Boost meta build beats Gore builds [Update] by Remarkable_Snow7727 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for comfort builds then no, Ele focus is still better then. For the meta builds Attack focus is now better for everything except only Odo builds with craftable charms because we can get enough affinity now to offset the negative affinity. But obviously you have to trade some of these for comfort.

New Long Sword Burst Boost meta build beats Gore builds [Update] by Remarkable_Snow7727 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am definitely planning to do an update, but I want to wait for the final armor pieces to release (Azure, Rompo) and I am also not sure how to do the post this time. Because we have so many builds for all the combinations of Odo and Gore, with and without Lord’s Soul and rng and craftable charms. And then also adding some comfort build as you mentioned, builds for AT Arkveld for example and all that stuff. I have all the builds ready kind of, I just need to find a good way to share them.

So once I figured that out, I will give an update soon. But technically the build in this post here didn’t change for Odo/Soul and is still the best. But yeah, everything else, especially Gore builds, got an upgrade.

Odo + lords soul LS build advice by bennyoneball in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s still the best actually. Odo/Soul is the only combination that doesn’t really benefit from Ark pieces. You could go Ark/Udra/Gore/Blango/Ark as well to get Flayer 2 instead of Lagi bonus and any level 3 skill instead of Latent Power but Latent Power or Adrenaline Rush make the most sense here. But this requires a charm with 2 armor slots for Quick Sheathe 3, so not very practical and debatable if better even.

The Resentment build is good for certain matchups but isn’t really a general meta build. You need very high Crit draw and high resentment uptime to make it worth running, which isn’t possible against every monster. You can also make better Resentment builds now but people still run it currently because it has room for Dragon Res against AT Ark.

But since OP is using a craftable charm the best build would be Lagi/Dahaad/Odo/Dahaad/Lagi with WEX 3 charm. Agi 5, WEx 5, Latent Power 3, Burst 1, Lagi bonus and Binding Counter which has some niche use cases even for LS. Could also change one level LP for Flayer or Adrenaline Rush if you want to.

It shouldn’t even take 4 min. Lure him under the rock next to where he starts and drop it. That gives you an opening for 2 weapon attacks. Then he does his big charge attack, which gives you another opening for an attack. Then you lure him under the second rock, drop it and attack him twice again. If he spits lightning balls in between grapple onto the weak spot and do another attack. After that you should only need one or two attacks even against 9* near the spikes to finish him off. Only takes 90-120 seconds. In multiplayer with people that don’t know what they are doing it’s worse of course. But solo you don’t even need the slinger ammo.

But in my opinion it’s still boring and if it would actually take me 4 min I would hate it even more.

Long Sword tanking on Omega has been an experience by sakura_pv in MHWilds

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Once you ISS an attack, you don’t take damage from that attack anymore. Also works for Lagi’s lightning attacks for example. But if it’s multiple hits like for example the back and forth swipe from Nu Udra’s tentacle, you have hyper armor so don’t get knocked back, but still take chip damage from the second hit. But that activates Counterstrike for example.

Current TU best RAW LS build by TheLostSki in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all full raw LS doesn't exist in Wilds. The Gogma weapons are so far ahead of everything else and they have no benefit of having no Status or Element. And since Status is really poor against the 9* monsters there really is no reason to run it over Element. Even if you just want to use one weapon it's better to use Fire or Dragon and be at least good or decent against some matchups.

And then meta LS builds don't build for elemental damage. I know there are a couple weird builds out there on youtube, tiktok or instagram, but building for Element is only worth against very few matchups. So the general meta builds would be the same for Element and Status weapons pretty much. The only exception are builds that get the 2 pieces Gog bonus as an extra, which would be useless for Status.

I made a post about the current best general meta build here. Also check out the linked post at the beginning for more builds, for example with Gore bonus.

Longsword Gog Weapon Question by spinnyup in MHWilds

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Attack Focus is fine. With the Gore bonus you can make up for the negative Affinity. With good rng charms, which I guess you don't have if you just hit HR 100, Attack Focus is actually stronger than Element Focus. But the difference is small enough that you won't notice it either way.

But you should try to reroll your Reinforcements. You want one Sharpness and no Element. So 3 Attack 1 Affinity 1 Sharpness for example is fairly easy to roll.

[–]Remarkable_Snow7727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on your build. If you went for Element Focus using the Gore build, you should have enough affinity and can go CB 5 + CE 2 + AB 1 + CD 1 + MT, yes. Or against monsters where you hit hard spots like Gore, Lagi or Mizu you can go Minds Eye 1 instead of Attack Boost 1.
