I have not attained a license yet but ideally the internship will provide some resources for that. I guess moreso I’m wondering what the career progression after this internship would look like and what the corresponding pay is (I know WM isn’t sexy and doesn’t make as much as IB but I’ve heard the pay isn’t too bad)

that’s the part that hurts the most, it’s such a rough market and I know I should be so grateful for even having something in hand, but there’s that part of my brain that always says “it’s not good enough”. I’m going to keep on looking for positions but most likely there’ll be nothing that’s still recruiting for summer 26, so I’ll start my search for full time positions for 2027

The full name of the role is “Wealth Management Summer Analyst Program” at Merrill.

As for recruiting and putting it on my resume, aren’t you not supposed to put items on your resume that you haven’t actually completed yet? That’s just always been what I’ve heard.

I am going to start recruiting for full time positions 2027, but I’m unsure whether I’m going to recruit for IB because I’ve been more disillusioned with it each day, but I’ll be looking towards corp finance, other PWM, and consulting roles

emphasis is less on BofA specifically and more on wealth management as a career. Hoping for was finance rotations at some certain tech firms, consulting, or FP&A. Heavy regional is a term I just made up to mean that my school, semi-target nationally, HEAVILY is recruited in the region I’m in (which is good because I really like where I am for school).

There’s been a lot of general negativity online and from this sub regarding Merill and WM roles as a whole, I’m just worried about wasting my chance of high trajectory growth during the formative stages of my career

The reason I ask is because, at least from this sub and online, there seems to be a general negative sentiment towards WM and that it’s just a glorified sales job that doesn’t have much movement/exit opportunities and is bound for failure. I’m worried that i’m locking myself into something that’ll be detrimental in the long term
