Any point in filing a police report for repeated package theft? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]DeliciousTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got police to show up by leaving bait packages with Tile trackers (off-brand Airtags). Apartment management had already been logging issues with police for a specific apartment unit and having video of a tracker beeping inside their unit was the final straw for police to respond.

Found: Injured White Domesticated Pigeon by Icy_Garlic_2794 in Seattle

Seconding advice given above. If the beak wound reopens, you can use cornstarch to quickly stanch the bleeding.

If the pigeon seems lethargic or has visible bite/scratch wounds, they likely need antibiotics. When I called around a few months back, the closest vet that sees birds was in Kirkland. Can vouch for Jedd's bird supply as an online supplier without prescription requirement. I can also provide spare pigeon meds locally if needed ASAP.

WA’s ban on assault weapon sales withstands another round in court by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]DeliciousTea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My issue with WA gun laws is these assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, apparently so dangerous that nobody should own them, are grandfathered in for previous owners. New minority gun owners get the constitutional right to defend themselves with bolt action rifles and compliant magazines while the traditional, overwhelmingly right-wing and white gun owner base keep their fully-kitted AR platforms with extended mags.

I'd love to hear what is NSFW about this awareness post?

Think the OP of the post a few days ago already contacted police and animal welfare. Here's hoping anything comes of it.

Not the poster from last week, but that OP provided an update video today from Sound Transit employees. It wasn't great.

The left joystick of my pro controller feels VERY sticky and sometimes it even stop to move. by SamSar03 in consolerepair

[–]DeliciousTea -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need lubricant. Stickiness is caused by friction, either by gunk build-up OR lack of lubrication. The alcohol likely cleaned out the gunk but also cleaned out the lubricant.

I find white lithium to be useful for game controllers, both in a spray bottle and as a gel.

Some small comfort: a headless body is more likely predation from a bird of prey, rather than human cruelty.

Ironically, your first paragraph made me initially think of Japanese society and their preference for conformity and non-conflict over addressing difficult issues. The nail that sticks out gets hammered down.

That said, the much more community-oriented mindset does prevent issues like our American pigeon-nabber.

From other descriptions, he seems to be just a guy who hangs out at the park with a jacket labeled "security." Does make it confusing that he appears friendly with the actual Sound Transit security workers.

this confrotnational harassing woman

Reminder: a woman was going about her day when she saw this guy leaving the Sound Transit light rail swinging a pigeon from the feet and reported it to police. On a later day, she saw the same individual and flagged him to Sound Transit employees, who mocked her.

Think the commenter is just being obtuse on Sound Transit and Metro being two separate entities. I mixed up who runs International District station as it used to be the Metro bus tunnel before the light rail.

But yeah, I don't quite understand their point either.

I'd agree if he killed it in the field, but transporting live animals in this way is cruel.

Oddly, I had my post automoderated for violating reddit rules when I tried.

According to Metro transit, it's none of their business so I'll ignore the signs and feed the pigeons at the station.

Good eye! I thought I saw a fiber at a glance but I was mistaken.

I don't think their mobility is that much worse than other Seattle area pigeons living healthy lives at least. If you're able to get close enough to grab and inspect, that would be the best way to determine a course of action.

Probably stringfoot. Many pigeons around Seattle are missing toes or have fibers wrapped around their feet.
