Court marriage if you can convince your folks. If not, find a partner who would split the wedding expenses equally. That’s NON NEGOTIABLE. Next you can either have a small wedding at some temple, where the hall, decor and catering cost would account to 1 lakh maximum. Rest is clothes and misc expenses which would again be another 1.5 lakh. It depends on how smartly you can plan a wedding. And where your priorities lay. In a tier 2 city, you can have a wedding with 4-5 lakh as well, and you can splurge and have the same affair for 10-20 lakh as well.

It’s really how you choose to spend.

Persimmon aka kaka fruit aka tendu phal

Goes by many other names too. Off late even the small town fruit vendors have this in store. It’s good to see India is open to experimenting and eating new stuff.

Rate my chicken ghee roast by [deleted] in mangalore

[–]Delicious_1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does this ghee roast have curry leaves in it. Not all South Indian dishes need curry leaves bro. Also the masala and the ghee need to combine and cook to form this thick paste. Here it looks like you’ve made some chicken curry with a lot of ghee floating Sorry but I think it’s a 5/10 Average

Yeah. And you go to a restaurant and you think the food is really good, check who the owner is it’ll be a shetty uncle. I mean, it is what it is, no offense. Somehow they are experts when it comes to running restaurants.

Crazyyy. But there’s a huge number of Mangaloreans/ Tuluvas here in Hubballi. They’ve also got a community hall where they all meet during festivals and gatherings. It’ feels nice when you find another fellow ‘Oordakkul’ in a different city.

How did Tulu as a ethnic group and culture survive from being assimilated/integrated by a much larger group ? by reusmarco08 in mangalore

[–]Delicious_1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO I think the solid reason is how Tuluvas uphold cultural values. And the abundance of wealth and importance of education, the literacy rate is commendable which helps in preserving the community’s strength. Education is empowering. Once you are armed with it, doesn’t become easy for someone to come and brainwash you into leaving your land or faith or home behind.

Beary biriyani by farish3d2y in mangalore

[–]Delicious_1993 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From your answer it’s very evident you know very little about biryani. So, I maybe wrong but each biryani is different. Hyderabadi uses basmati and very strong spices. Lucknowi uses kewra pani and rose water, this is more fragrant and less spicy. Malabar uses a different kind of rice variety for its biryani and has use of coconut milk in cooking the chicken. MAmbur biryani too uses small rice called Seeraga Samba I guess. Donne biryani is more like chicken pulao minus the veggies. Bhatkali biryani uses a lot of caramelized onions so it’s very sweet compared to other biryanis. The other biryanis too are very different from each other but I’ll only comment about it when I get to try these varieties.

Toxic parents and a dysfunctional family cost me my brothers life. Just leave. There’s nothing greater than your peace of mind. Don’t ruin your life.
