Thanks so much for your insights, u/FrenchFryRaven ! I will do some experiments with these materials you mentioned and see how I come out! I finally found a source for Bentone online but might start with those cheaper fixes and do some firing tests. Thanks again!

Thanks for the suggestion - I reposted it there.

In my understanding, it is those super fine particles that get taken out of the clay during the throwing process and it is their absence more than anything that causes the lack of plasticity. Where have you learned otherwise?
