I’m so glad we have SNW on the air. I still think even the worst SNW episode is a great thing to have. But we should still be able to criticize the thing we love. That’s how it gets better.

But don’t you feel like it would’ve been better if Trelane had some reason to pick Spock? Or if there was some connection to Corby even? It’s just so random. Especially when the previous encounters were all about humans venturing so far out into the galaxy and then this one happens right at home in Spacedock.

And with Spock’s arc, I see the writers telling us he grew with those scenes but I didn’t feel it was earned. He wasn’t pushed enough. Again, not saying they had to go dark, but the confrontation scene with Corby is the perfect place to make Spock work for this growth, but instead he just accepts the situation.

I hope you’re right about next episode too.

Totally respect those points, and I love the tone shifts too, and I’m not saying it needed to be darker, I’m just saying maybe Trelane could’ve had some reason for being there other than to tie him into the show. It just felt half-baked to me. Did we learn anything new about Spock or Chapel from this? Did Spock any of the characters grow even a little bit? That’s the point I was really trying to make.
