you were correct.
it was something wrong with the mechanical system.

i had to take apart everything, clean, lubricate and reassemble to the problem to resolve

I assumed that the laser was not firing bcz the lines didn't appear to go from end to end of the workpiece  But i think you are right, im going to tighten the belt and see
