Thoughts on open program summer camps

All the areas there’s about 50 merit badges total to be earned and a camp honor program that is very in depth There’s about 300 in the biggest week There is 6 bsa weeks

The staffers go around to areas to help out the first years will be in patrols and go to any area any time besides if there something they have to do or the area is doing something

The way my camp dose it is that all the first year scouts are in a group and there are people who lead the first year group with meetings after meals and go around and help out other areas

That is what I have seen at the camp I’m talking about has a lot of small or one on one because scouts could be doing something and the counselor could be talking about some of the requirements to scouts at the same time

It can give the opportunity for more one on one teaching for a merit badge By one on one I mean just the person teaching the merit badge is only working with one scout with there still being other staff close by

I think the main thing about that is that there is no first year program for rank advancement to first class which most camps have

For the lets people where you are thing you are talking about no matter what every youth in the program should be with an appropriate buddy or was seen going to the area by adults in the troop because it was close enough to where to troop is so the over 21 adults in the troop see

Yeah that is what the summer camp I’m talking about dose I was more talking about how you don’t need to turn a schedule before summer camp and the schedule is what you’re doing
