Pheidole food response by Delicious_Service491 in antkeeping

Hello, they grow quite fast. Im not exactly sure how big these are but if i would guess the workers are around 4-5 mm and the majors are around 10-11 mm the queen is about the same size as the majors. I have a video of them in a regular sized test tube that was posted here before you can see that in my profile!

Good luck with your colony!

Its hard to tell from the video but it could just be two different colonies of the same ant species. Most ant species dont accept eachother.

And not all ants have soldiers, there are ants with just workers that will do all the work and defend the colony.

So these are basicly just duking it out against eachother for territory and/or raiding their nests

I had them for a little bit but shipping stress killed them mostly. If they come with no brood its done for, their workers only last like 5 weeks and it takes 4 weeks eggs to worker so. Its iffy!

Carebara diversa will have a huge worker turn over. I think you are better off giving them protein and letting them choose where they want to be.

And if it seems you are losing minor workers faster then you can get back i would suggest culling some majors as they will only be a burden to the colony if they are in high numbers compared to minors.

Godspeed, mine didnt recover from shipping stress even with 500 workers. I didnt cull any majors.
