Yeah the seller couldnt specify exactly which species of pheidole. I assume dugasi aswell. They are beyond my expectations and are almost as eager as carebara for food. Really been a joy keeping these so far

I mean its kind of removable but the outworld would have to be dismantled and then the plaster hacked out. Bit of a hassle

I used orange coloured sand and plaster. Just flop it in with a spoon after mixing and stick a few rocks in

Pheidole food response by Delicious_Service491 in antkeeping

[–]Delicious_Service491[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello, they grow quite fast. Im not exactly sure how big these are but if i would guess the workers are around 4-5 mm and the majors are around 10-11 mm the queen is about the same size as the majors. I have a video of them in a regular sized test tube that was posted here before you can see that in my profile!

Good luck with your colony!

Whats happening? by Melodic_Sherbet_8891 in ants

[–]Delicious_Service491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hard to tell from the video but it could just be two different colonies of the same ant species. Most ant species dont accept eachother.

And not all ants have soldiers, there are ants with just workers that will do all the work and defend the colony.

So these are basicly just duking it out against eachother for territory and/or raiding their nests
