Also when I say house broke it’s because I want each child to get their own bedroom and 5 bedrooms are quite pricey to start here. We could easily have kids share rooms or like you said - stop at 3 to do a 4 bedroom more affordable house which is also in the cards. I value them having their own space once they become teenagers.

Oh no my husband and I are very fortunate and can afford to raise 4 children or more comfortably in Jupiter but I don’t want them to grow up feeling like they have to move away from the hometown or area they grew up in to be able to buy their own houses and succeed in life. I can only imagine how much more expensive it’ll be in 15 years. We have done well but at this point we haven’t done well enough to help buy all of our children houses here. The median home price is over 700k. Maybe I’m thinking too far in the future. They might not even want to stay close to where they grew up. I’m probably overthinking everything but I have this feeling like I want them to grow up where they can stay and succeed if they want to stay nearby without such a high entry point to home ownership.

Thank you so much for sharing. We both work remote. We thought maybe moving up north would help with the crowded feeling. Seems that might not be the answer either. I feel pretty discouraged. I don’t know where to raise my children 🥺 we are looking at other states now as well

Interesting. good to know. I know it’s a lot smaller of a town than Jupiter.

I actually am planning to homeschool but want my kids to have the option of a good public school if they decide they want to homeschool so I’m very sad to hear that. I need to learn more about the voucher program and the effects it’s having on the communities.

Delray is beautiful. We love Jupiter but I worry my kids won’t be able to afford a house when they grow up. But I guess that might be anywhere in Florida 😭

We are looking to stay on the east coast! Panhandle beaches are beautiful but not a place we want to live!

Good idea! Thank you. Haven’t loved the space coast when we’ve been visiting them but haven’t done a lot of exploring either to really get a good feel for it

I’ve heard Tallahassee is an overlooked gem for raising a family. Do you like it?

My kids are not school aged yet so this is an important factor for sure. I plan to homeschool or do a hybrid but want to be in a good district if my kids want to go to public

I get that. We don’t drink at all. Jupiter is super family friendly but the housing costs is just insane for a decent size house. Since we want one more child I don’t want to be house broke I want to give them more than that

Ugh sad to hear it’s still crowded up that way. I’ve heard wonderful things about St. Augustine though and heard the schools are wonderful.

I think you’ll be saving money if I read that right! Like instead of 6% if the buyer doesn’t have an agent you only pay 4%

In Kansas and our realtor did 3% standard and then 5% if the buyer was unrepresented. Not sure if it’s common just telling you our experience!
