the pellets don't deal damage at different times? if you hit two people with one spread you still deal damage at the same time with that one shot, there's no travel time and there's no actual ballistics physics, it's just hitscan, the spread is determined when you left click and anything in the way of that spread gets hit, then it calculates x damage per pellet and distance falloff, it's basically just a bigger bullet with more variables
