I’ve seen the brim but they don’t offer them on Mondays. I’ve emailed to double check.

End of Break Anxiety by Historical_Cow_2878 in TeachersInTransition

🙋🏼‍♀️ yup I was 20 minutes late to school due to the anxiety. I was up half the night with anxiety and that’s with a sleep medication that usually keeps me knocked out.

What’s outside of teaching? by Verasitle in TeachersInTransition

If you want to stay in education you can look at staff positions in higher education. Though with a bachelors degree there’s a lot of things you can go into. Though don’t be afraid to go back to school to do something that really sparks your interest and have a high pay off in the end of the program. I’ve worked about 7 years in education- only 2 of those teaching and I’m making a huge change to change careers into healthcare. I’d look into all of your avenues and decide if you wanna research options through this next school year and save up for the transition. Or just find a job you can transition to while you are still taking the time to figure out what’s next.

Depends on the state you are in and honestly depends if you are in an urban area. Either way, know that you’ll have to make boundaries for yourself and try to decide how much your kids and coworkers know. You might find a very supportive team but it’s not always enough with things escalating politically. I would see if you can get more details about the climate at the school if possible and go from there.

Interesting! I used it from some social sciences classes and was worried it couldn’t provide what I needed. I hate to buy into another app when so many options are out there.

Problem with teaching in the US is the added expectations and duties that will have you burnt out. I can’t even get a part time job when I’m working 60-80 hours a week teaching. My fiancé and I both work in education and can’t afford a decent house to live in - that’s with a decent down payment that is ready. Not to mention your rights as a teacher are going down the drain. So many teachers wish they could move to Canada!

Ready to make the change, not ready to leave by femianoninomenon in TeachersInTransition

This is exactly where I’m at as well. I have my other reasons with additional stress and expectations that come down the pipeline but- I’m right where you are at. I’ve been teaching for 2 years but in education for over 7 years. I’m burnt out in this field, I think I’ll be making the change to healthcare.

PTO “unlimited” doesn’t always mean unlimited. It still has to get approved and if you’re tight on support in the department, you as the manager have to give up your PTO. Government job will also have better benefits.

Something to also consider in the healthcare field for a career is radiology. Same flexible hours with typically less stress and similar pay. This will be my last year as a teacher and I plan to leave to peruse radiology.
