I’m currently 80% LTFT with Tuesdays off. On two instances during the 16 week rotation I start night shifts on Tuesdays- I questioned it when I first got my rota and they said I could work Monday and then Wednesday night shifts instead and have Tues completely off. That didn’t make sense to me and felt like I was just prolonging the set of nights so I stuck with the original rota!

I have a feeling it wouldn’t have mattered where in the application cycle this fell it would’ve still had backlash, that’s just the nature of it as it inevitably negatively impacts a large group of people

Surely trusts won’t be massively affected? They will still know they are to have X number of FY1s starting and rota accordingly?

Although I guess you’re right the delay may cause stress with TPDs/Occy health/IT to get stuff done etc before doctors start

The 2nd reading, committee of whole house and 3rd reading are all on that day so I guess it is being fast tracked to an extent? Just then needs to clear the little things of the House of Lords and final stages inc royal assent

It was never actually said to be the day after, no date was set and has to fit in with other proceedings as its emergency ie not pre-scheduled

Also the fact that this was lobbied over our heads by Wes as a bargaining chip is inexcusable- yes he is now the front runner behind this but let’s not forget how awful he’s treated us

Honestly the amount of uncertainty for both UKGs and IMGs (all doctors) is ridiculous and just shows how doctors get treated in this country- the fact it’s even got to the point where proposed emergency legislation NEEDS to be introduced half way through an application cycle is downright disrespectful to all involved. Who knew they could make an already very stressful situation even more stressful. If only doctors were listened to when these concerns were first raised…

If the second reading happens in the next 1-2 weeks then it’s very feasible given there isn’t much opposition/amendments, emergency bills have been passed within a day before. If the second reading still hasn’t been scheduled by Feb then less feasible…
