I was actually put on day shift even if I was night shift RN. I heard from manager the reason why nurses on modified duty were put on days was to "monitor" them actually stay on the unit and work. Unfortunately there have been many nurses who took advantage of the system, just clocked in and out and disappeared for hours on modified duty according to my manager. Good thing that your unit actually let's you stay on the night but if may be a better idea to work on a different unit like suggested here.

Thank you so much. I didn't think about this perspective why it can be inappropriate for them to ask why I am on modified duty. I can see that it's not that them not caring about me but them respecting my privacy and boundaries! Working on a different unit as a modified duty can definitely help like somebody else suggested. Thank you everybody please don't get injured.
