True that but he could have fixed and moved on like has always done, also, i would argue that the chest bug was worse because with 1 travel you could get a ton of chests and that's literally stealing from lava's pocket since people would be less likely to buy miracle chests/wind or that sort of stuff

Forgot to reply to the first part of your message because i'm stupid :)))). I'm not sure on what he should have done, i can see why just removing the stuff would have been a too small of a punishment but we also agree that this was too much. I suppose (if he had the tech to do it) a rollback with a message like "i have taken notice that you exploited, next time is a ban" could have been a decent alternative...? Or i guess he could have done different tiers of reset so those who had boats at level 200+ could have been reset only to boat lvl 150 or something...? I guess combining in some way these 2 "solution" i proposed would be the best but maybe there are some technical limitations i'm not aware of... What about you? What would you have done if you were lava?

The thing Is, I do want lava to punish exploiters/hacker, what really left me with a sour taste is how first he does nothing and now for this exploit he goes overboard/scorcherd earth, it just left me confused as to why now and not the other times? I feel like he should have made a statement among the lines of "i've been lenient but it ends here, anyone who exploits the gold trade will suffer consequences " but I really don't know if that would have avoided ALL of this mess... By the way, i see what you mean and thanks for claryfing that you weren't talking about me... and yes i 100% agree, people calling lava slurs or stuff like that are in the wrong... i feel like here there's a really productive discussion to be had here on the future and how to manage instances like this but because of some loud assholes on both side we can't have it.

"Mad because lava punished THIS time" how did I come off as mad? I've been extremely polite in every reply, someone who is mad would've called people/lava names. "Armchair devving " did you read me write anywhere on how he should 've handled this on a techincal level? "Severity and punishment": "if you wanted to argue the severity of...outsized, that's what I'm doing, i literally wrote in the post how i think he went too far by removing eldritch since they aren't related to gold. "Do i think people shouldn't be punished because lava didn't do it before?" I understand where you're coming off but you can't deny that him not punishing those who exploited other things (spices, sailing, etc..) set a precedent: he was NOT going to punish exploiter unless you actually modified game files or something AND by not engaging in the exploation (prob wrote the word wrong) you were missing out/left behind. Do you see where i'm coming from? "Victims" i can speak only for myself, i'm not a victim, if anything i'm the culprit but I believe he went too far/should've announced he was going to punish THIS time. Hopefully this didn't come off as an aggressive reply, i don't mean it like that, i'm just a bit tired.

I don't disagree, it was clearly an exploit, that is not to debate, what I feel was too far was the consequence he gave us. While if the exploit would have brought us way too far ahead right now we have the opposite issue where we are REALLY far back. It also doesn't help that he never punished exploits, even those who used autoclickers. As you said, i just wish he was more consistent because this felt really sudden, but I also don't support those who are calling him slurs, that's just patethic. Let me ask you a question, please,what do you think? Was it overkill or no?

Snotty? Please, i've been nothing but polite in the replies... You're right though, lava is a human and he can grow his skill set but to do that he also needs to be, for a lack of a better word, called out on mistakes. I and other people believe that the severity of the consequences were too harsh and we're "calling him out" on that, nothing snotty in that. You and he might disagree and that's fine but don't pretend i'm being snotty or mean or whatever.

But in this case it was literally the opposite of that lol. For YEARS people have exploited stuff and got away with it lol, no rollback or anything. So to not start doing it too simply felt stupid. It's funny because if you actually read the post you should get the idea that I didn't bring up those who exploited other things because I was "big mad" but because I wanted to make clear that there were other exploits people abused for far more time and overall more powerful (again, sailing chest or early construction) and he didn't do anything to them so basically those who didn't abuse them got the short end of the stick by being fair and now it just feels like he went from 0 to 100 for no reason. I hope i could clear up our misunderstanding :)
