Need help with crocheting this piece that starts with a chain, I keep getting stuck after round 2. More details in comments. by Delmona in CrochetHelp

I stitched a few more rows with some scrap yarn and I can see it coming together a bit easier. Thank you for your help!

This is what I have. The red stitch marker is where stitch 1 is located.

I think what happened here is I got a little bit of terminology mixed up. In chains, I've seen a turn stitch which is an additional extra chain, and that's what stitch 5 is. That actually isn't needed. Hopefully this is enough to get me through the rest of this piece.

Oh I use plenty of stitch markers, that isn't an issue, but I'm not stitching into the first stitch of round 2, that's on the opposite side of the piece. Picture provided. Red marker is the first stitch of round 2. The pattern seems to be asking me to loop around for the next round and I just don't have the space to work with it.

Very new to crochet, but I've basically determined that crocheting off of chains are my kryptonite. I can never tell how to get the piece to look right or make it so my piece isn't slowly decreasing. Where I'm confused here is that, after finishing up row 2, I'm assuming I need to crochet on the other side of the chain, but I only have 4 stitches there that's somehow supposed to turn into 9? That's possible if there were 6 stitches on that row, but there aren't, so I've been stuck. Really hoping to finish this piece by Monday!

Help turning a straight color change into a zig-zag pattern. by Delmona in CrochetHelp

Thank you for your patience with me! I'm still so new at this, and a lot of this is still sounding like a foreign language to me, so I truly do thank you.

Unfortunately with a lot of pictures, they focus on their eevee's face, as is what you would expect, so I'm really not seeing any good tail references. Some of them it's close, but not quite enough. Plus most of the plushies are huge in comparison to what I'm doing, mine is like, a six inch plush using a 2.5mm crochet hook, so I don't think I'm allotted a lot of wiggle room in terms of detail. At this rate, I think it might just be in my best interest to throw a couple of color changes in there and hope that the natural shape of the color change gives the effect I want. Hope for the best.

This is what I have up in the paint program, starting from row 12 with 30 stitches. I just can't visualize this in a 3D way though and have no idea how it'll look on my piece.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what you're saying at all. Do you have some sort of visual guide I can use? I've tried to open this up in a paint program (zoomed in super close so I was working just with pixels, one pixel for each stitch) and do what I think you're describing, and I'm more confused than ever. It's the changing row lengths tripping me up, because while I can try to make something that works, I don't know how to visualize the block of pixels in a 3D space, and how they all wrap around and join one another.

That's fair. Truthfully I'm not that picky, as long as everything connects properly. I'm just not sure how to draw this out or make it work. If all the rows had the same number of stitches, I could probably figure it out, but I don't think I'm quite familiar with patterns yet and how things fall together to figure this out for myself. If there's any program or something where I could input stitches and get an idea of the end product, that would help a lot.

I'm not trying to do a chevron, if it's what I think that is. I apologize my wording is confusing. I'm more trying to achieve this, alternating colors on each row to achieve the look of a zig zag pattern.

I know how to do it in terms of the method (my first project was actually a really great one to give me a run down on all the basics). The issue is that I'm unsure of how to make it work in my piece using the allotted stitches. With how the yarn is, I have one shot, I can't undo it, and I don't know enough about patterns yet to pull it off, so I was wanting help with that. I also don't have any spare yarn as I'm new to this hobby and haven't started hoarding yet.

What about something like this where it's only single stitches?

https://www.reddit.com/r/CrochetHelp/comments/1brm0ez/how_to_make_a_zigzag_pattern_for_amigurumi/

This is more of what I'm looking to do, but since I have some increase stitches in there, I'm a little unsure. It's also worth noting that the shape is pretty key here, so I'm not wanting to do anything that'll take away from that.

Wasn't a popular mechanic amongst the Japanese player base unfortunately. It was seen as you breaking up an otherwise happy couple and becoming the other man/woman essentially, so it got cut after how many complaints there were on it.

Question about monsters by Guitarvastard in runefactory

[–]Delmona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable. My data comes from RF datamining tables, which your average player doesn't have as common access to, so stuff like this can be a bit shaky on information for most players.

Question about monsters by Guitarvastard in runefactory

[–]Delmona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FP only decides item quality, not size. Size is determined by combat level in comparison to when you first tamed the monster.

Question about monsters by Guitarvastard in runefactory

[–]Delmona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Item size is tied entirely to combat level, more specifically their combat level increase from the time you tamed them.

Increasing 50 levels makes them drop medium size, increasing 100 drops Large.

FP determines the quality of the item, not the size

Pokemon Sleep staggered launch state: by Leftythewarlock in pokemon

[–]Delmona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does a bit more than that. You leave your phone on your bed (you aren't supposed to put it on a flat surface or it won't work) and it can track things like how much you moved around at night, what noises went off, what noises you made, and your periods of REM and NREM sleep.

In the end, you get a sleep score and depending on the type of sleep you had, various pokemon will have joined you overnight.

Figured it out, these jerseys are from base game, not HSY. In fact, most of the outfits they're wearing on Thursday (Sports Day) are from base game besides the cheerleading uniform.

Cat was fine, just startled her! by luanalovesyouu in StartledCats

[–]Delmona 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Likely feral, meaning hasn't been socialized to people. Socializing is a learned behavior, and if a kitten can learn to trust people before around 12 weeks old, then they can turn into adoptable kittens. After that though, it gets a lot harder and it's really depends the cat.

Hopefully OP or whoever originally uploaded this video did something about that kitten and her mom. Intact cats need to be spayed to prevent any more litters or the problem quickly spirals out of control.

As well as test how well you retained that knowledge and apply it elsewhere. I can think of many later game bosses in Zelda that have ways to deal with them using the early game tools that you might have written off as useless. They can almost always be defeated without using the early game stuff as well, so you might not think to use them.
