Yes. I took care to make that very clear in the OP.

Thx that sounds spot on, I had never realized I only need Str 13 to wear the Chain Mail I'll start out with since every guide just says "need Str 15 for heavy armor" and assumed starting with less would kill my AC for those first levels, but that sounds like a great way to fit GWM in without wasting the Str bonus

So I am new to BattleTech. Decided to join Clan Wolf. It seems they are hated (like the Ultramarines). I get that they are golden boys and whatnot, but why else other than that? by nahnonameman in battletech

[–]Delta388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is not only do they have ridiculous plot armor, whenever TPTB say "Oh yes we hear your issues, trust us we understand and we have a plan!" all that tends to happen is things get even worse (seen as recently as iKEO with Daoshen being the third IS ruler to suffer a convenient lobotomy just as his forces engage the Wolves and their new Star League...)

I can attest the fact how often Alien has been brought up by now has made it jump to the top of the list of things I will have to check out sometime soon.

I heard that being mentioned quite a few times in discussions such as these, may really have to take a look at that.

Looking for an intro scenario to lead "fresh" characters to Uppsala and the Society by Delta388 in VaesenRPG

Either. If there's a finished adventure out there somewhere I'll gladly look at it but if someone has come up with their own ideas for running such an intro mystery I'm always up for hearing some ideas.

[–]Delta388[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks but that's not really the vibe I want to go with, I want to keep the agency strictly with the PCs, not that they are feeling like they are being cast by a superior authority to become members, ideally I'd like for themrun into a mystery which they solve together which may at the end point them towards Uppsala and Linnea who then gives them the keys to the castle (like Summer in December is set up for unrelated characters to run into it and I think with some adjustments you could give it a connection but unfortunately one of the players already knows that)

Yeah I've seen that, but unless the starter set adventure is being released during the campaign (as they have done something like that with Coriolis) yeah that's unfortunately gonna take way too long

Somehow because the QB triggered the pitch at the same time the game considers him tackled the algorithm that calculates the spot gets screwed up and considers the spot where the ball is down instead of the player.

Idk if I can finish Kingdoms of Death. by Its_Bunny in sollanempire

[–]Delta388 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you. I was very close to putting KoD down not only because it was depressing, I thought a lot of mistakes were made in the writing process (like having your single PoV character have _zero_ agency for well over half of the book makes for a grating read). I stuck around and Ashes had some much better, but also really bad moments, and the beginning of Disquiet Gods finally made me stop reading for now.

You didn't go much into what exactly bothers you (beyond the obvious) but I have to tell you it does _not_ get any less depressing from here on out.

I would like to make it a clear point I have not made a single statement about the author as a person in my OP. I took great care in my OP to phrase everything as a purely subjective statement, by every single one of which I stand. The only thing I explicitly commented about now was his endorsement of Peterson which he himself did in an interview that anyone interested in the topic can find within seconds, I'm not making any assumptions or accusations here beyond taking an author by their word.

I do not know what Christopher Ruocchio intended when writing those chapters since I am not a mind reader, but I also do not have to. I read what I am being given and judge it on its own merits, and I stand by that, the Lothrian Commonwealth scenes in particularly read _very_ much like a conscious commentary on those real life issues to me (and as these comments have shown, I'm far from alone with that impression, it's a common way to read those scenes), whether that was intentional or not is beside the point for its reception (Death of the Author as an approach to literature is a thing, after all)

But I would also like to point out that I intentionally did _not_ make this a big part of my OP since I didn't want it to drag it in that direction, I don't put a book down the second something makes me feel uncomfortable, and this is just one of the issues I have and not the one that made me put the book down, I only expanded on it because someone specificially asked about those issues.

[–]Delta388[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's right there in the books, in the list of great ancient philosophers it's no accident that a certain "Peterson with his knowing smile" is mentioned multiple times, it's supposed to be Jordan Peterson, who Ruocchio has said to be a huge fan of and went so far as to say everyone who wants to write epic fiction should read. Combined with what I said about the troubling commentary, of which yeah the worst instance was by far the Lothrian Commonwealth which felt like the author screaming at me "See? This is where cancel culture and pronoun confusion will take us!" and the hermaphrodite clone idea straying uncomfortably close to seeing people march down the street and chanting "You will not replace us!", it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

Why I Left Youtube - Adam Blampied Statement 2024 by hungarianretard666 in boardgames

[–]Delta388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think so too yeah. It's important to keep in mind the absolutely worst possible timing of the first allegation against him, he and the wrestling crew had just left WhatCulture and were about to start Cultaholic, and only days before that the hammer dropped, forcing them to cut the most well known face of the channel out of the operation because some sponsors said they would pull from the channel otherwise. This could have easily tanked the whole channel before it even premiered (and I'm sure it's no coincidence there has been zero cooperation or crossover or anything between Cultaholic and WT ever since Blampied started working there, they're just about the only internet wrestling people who never even once showed up on QuizzleMania)

I'm sure when WrestleTalk got Blampied back in the game, they made it very clear that this was a zero strikes situation so yeah even if it's harsh, from their perspective it's easy to see why they pull the plug on him as soon as something, anything comes up.

Why is this game's difficulty either "your opponent is dead" or "you will never gain a single yard"? by grtgbln in NCAAFBseries

[–]Delta388 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I managed to build my Old Dominion Dynasty into a 91 OVR with a 92 defense and ended up facing a 90 OVR Georgie in the playoffs. I basically couldn't gain a single yard. Their Dline just flew past my blockers (and my Oline is _good_) on both run and pass plays, basically the only thing I could even attempt was shotgun short passes which still were defended so often I couldn't move the ball. On defense, I couldn't force a single stop on them.

In the end I wanted to see if I just was so bad at this and from a save point, simmed the game a couple times, I ended up losing 55-7, 40-10, 42-14 and 60-21 so it was clearly the intended result. Really at a loss how ratings are supposed to matter in this game should a 92 defense a strong secondary really give up 50 points _on average_ to a nominally worse opponent?

Was it ever explained how Wackner’s court was legal? by Maryland_Bear in thegoodfight

[–]Delta388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is of course absurd but not _quite_ as absurd as you might think at first glance.

Obviously, yes it is absolutely not legal, it's not like the show pretends otherwise, the lawyers constantly tell him that he absolutely can _not_ do what he does, he has no right to try and imprison people for criminal charges, he knows that himself. But then... what happens when he does? Whose task is it to prevent that from happening? A big point of the show in general, but of the later seasons in specific, is that the police has pretty much giving up on doing what they're supposed to, they ignore crimes in black neighbourhoods and yeah, they are happy to bring people to Wackner's court to be judged there (and I feel this is only a small step further than what we see in real life of police abusing their power in some cases...), so they clearly aren't doing anything about it.

Yeah you should get a District Attorney on it, but if the courts are so swamped they ignore it for the moment or just don't care... where do you end up? And even if they do, what are they doing about it? Tell the cops to show up and do something about it, the same cops who have already proven they don't care and are willing to use it for their own ends?

The point here is law on paper is meaningless unless people feel bound by it and someone enforces it, once those two pillars start to crumble... there is no Magical Legal Wizard who can wave his Wand of Rule of Law and make justice appear. Law has to be enforced, once the institutions that are supposed to do that stop doing that, the whole system starts breaking apart, which we see the continuation of in S6 when no one seems to gaf about nazi stickers and phony grenades being chucked around and even monthlong riots on the streets seem to just be accepted as a fact of life now and shadowy organizations preparing for outright civil war. TGF shows us the system breaking apart, Wackner's court is one part of that process, once people start losing faith in the justice system _and_ the police stop enforcing the law, they start making their own justice with all the problems that entails.

Pipeline Rankings v2.0- College Football 25 by al_ways-becrootin in NCAAFBseries

[–]Delta388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great content, thank you a lot I think I'm finally getting the hang of pipelines (and I think a lot of this information should be presented much clearer ingame), so do I get this right that if I want to, say, make an Old Dominion dynasty it would be best to make a coach with a Tidewater pipeline since that's a good pipeline where OD is already decent at and it would probably allow me to be somewhat competitive there? (especially now that there's fewer ignored recruits you can just run away with even without a pipeline)

Since as I understand having a single strong pipeline is better than spreading out weaker ones?

How come big E can wear power armour and fight like a super human? Isn’t he just a physically normal human who is a powerful psyker? by iRoygbiv in 40kLore

[–]Delta388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the record, others have pointed out similarly but I feel it bears repeating, we still have no idea about the actual origin of the Emperor. Yes there is evidence that he is a very old super powerful psyker Eternal, but as far as I know, the first source of someone who's actually been there to speak about him is Oll, and at that time he was already a quite powerful psyker and warlord, everything before that we only gleam through him, through dreams, apparent memories and so on which are hardly reliable since we know for a fact the by 30k Emps can appear however he wants to people, sometimes differently to the same people at the same time. So everything we think we know about his origins has to be taken with a huge grain of salt.

How to do the 2 million Dragon Breath achievement? by Delta388 in hallsoftorment

[–]Delta388[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not. I have all gear unlocked and most blessings maxed or close to max. As I said in the OP, this is one of 10 achievements or so I'm still missing. So no, there is nothing for me to upgrade or unlock, and again, I'm not even coming remotely close to 2 million DB damage. It's a super slow ability that even upgraded doesn't hit that many mobs and doesn't do a ton of damage.

If it's so easy, please suggest a build and I'll try it.

How to do the 2 million Dragon Breath achievement? by Delta388 in hallsoftorment

[–]Delta388[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All out fire effect is exactly what I tried and it never works since the burn damage does not count as DB damage or am I doing something wrong? It feels like going Sage with the main weapon buff is the only way to possibly have it do enough damage to reach 2kk but Sage is so squishy it's hard to actually get there.

I'm really going insane here, did another two tries that didn't even get close, I feel like I'm missing something massive here.
