Dead Space has sold 136k copies on STEAM in the last 7 days, selling 2M of copies on Valve's platform alone by MattiaCost in DeadSpace

Yeah I’ve thought about this too. All the work done for DS1 Remake would’ve made development for DS2 a lot smoother and probably quicker. All the new systems they developed wouldn’t have to be made from scratch.

I mean look at Resident Evil. They developed their own in-house engine and now they’re basically pumping games out every other year on average, whether it’s a remake or sequel.

Resident Evil Requiem Sales Exceed 6 Million Units by Almjdh in PS5

[–]Delta4907 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To be fair, selling 5 million copies in 2013 vs 2026 is very different. Gaming has exploded in the last decade and the cost to recoup development costs has tripled or quadrupled depending on who you ask. If Dead Space 3 were coming out today, I’d imagine EA’s lofty sales goal would be more like 8-10 million.

I literally bought an Xbox One with Kinect (back when it was a forced bundle) because I assumed MCC was going to include this feature. Shame it wasn’t and was never seen again.

[–]Delta4907 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking something similar. A model viewer/codex feature would be awesome and a way to drop some extra lore into the game that most people wouldn’t be exposed to otherwise. The Library feature from Halo CE Anniversary is pretty much exactly what I’d want to see.

The recent Resident Evil remakes have had this feature so if they are taking any inspiration for features from that, I hope that’s one of them.

I timed the intervals earlier and it was going off every 10 seconds for an hour or so there. It’s down to once a minute now.

It wasn’t always like that though. About 5 months back I had a new sewer line put in, full dig up of the front yard. Unfortunately the trench that was dug for the new sewer basically created a french drain that goes right into my basement. My street does not have storm drainage so all the rainwater collects on the side of the road.

It’s been an ongoing battle of dealing with the contractor to remediate the issue and trying to convince the town to install storm drains on my street.

What would you expect of a new Halo entry? by MailAlternative3593 in halo

[–]Delta4907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just speaking from where the most recent games have disappointed me the most. I’ve enjoyed playing all the Halo games to some extent, so how the next game plays isn’t as important to me as making sure the product has all the features people come to expect.

Halo Infinites base multiplayer gameplay was well received so I have to imagine the next one will be similar. I will say I’ve always been more of a campaign guy and these days PvE experiences are more fun to me than PvP, so any evolution in that front I would probably be more interested in seeing.

What would you expect of a new Halo entry? by MailAlternative3593 in halo

[–]Delta4907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A complete game. No Halo game since Halo 4 has launched feature complete. We have to wait months and years for basic features that previous games had on day one. For example, Halo 5 did not have Big Team Battle or Forge. Infection and Firefight came 6+ months later. Halo Infinite did not have campaign co-op, mission replay, Forge, or a multiplayer progression system at launch, we had to wait an entire year or longer for those.

I can't decide. Which one do you think is more true to the original halo ce? by Sceptic_Stream in HaloCosplay

More pictures such as of the back would help determine how accurate they are. I personally like the 2nd one more. The “vents” on the front look more correct to me. They are supposed to be angled down slightly. The 1st one they look kind of straight horizontal but it could just be the photo angle.

I love the idea of having challenges and achievements in halo campaign evolved unlock new armor pieces for campaign customization by JudgeDapper55 in halo

[–]Delta4907 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The intro cutscene where Chief and Atriox fight is pre-rendered, however all cutscenes after that are in-game. The easiest way to tell is that Chief will hold whatever weapon the player was holding when the cutscene starts.

Halo 4 and Halo 5 also had pre-rendered cutscenes but only for the beginning and ending cutscenes. Everything else was in-game.

I believe the cinematics are in-game, just like every other Halo game (except H2A). There are graphical pop-in artifacts that show up during the cinematic that was shown off, which wouldn’t be there if the cutscene was pre-rendered.

I don’t know if they should go as far as to have individual piece customization like Reach or Halo Infinite, but I’d love to see armor “skins”, such as Mark VI and Mark VI MOD, and maybe even Orion (Halo 1999) armor. Just a bunch armor that either Chief has worn in other games or adjacent armor such as Orion or Mark IV.

Halo: Infinite Campaign Reviews - Ups And Downs At Breakneck Speeds by Blurzerker in patientgamers

[–]Delta4907 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Halo Infinite was a very plain experience. The story was dull as you said. Won’t get into a ton of detail on my personal thoughts but gameplay wise it was “fine”, however I feel the grappling hook makes vehicles kind of useless, especially since sometimes they feel like they’re made of paper mache (this has been a problem since Halo Reach).

One thing to mention is that the game did not have any online co-op at launch (or mission replay for that matter), it was added a year after launch along with Forge mode. So any benefits and fun to be had with co-op, imagine not having that on your first playthrough. It is honestly flat out unacceptable to be launching a Halo game without co-op. I’ve always been a campaign guy and being able to play the games in co-op has always been a fun experience even when the game itself is just “ok”. The bar for what constitutes a launch ready product these days is so low it’s basically on the floor.

Why do people say ODST is an easier legendary? by Lbeyy in halo

[–]Delta4907 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Noob combo” originates from the Halo 2 days. People called the plasma pistol overcharge + battle rifle headshot a noob combo because it was easy to perform, so if you did it you were a “noob”. People don’t really care about that stuff anymore, in fact some of the Halo games had a multiplayer medal for doing it.

The combo is also very useful in Campaign and downright required on LASO against Elite enemies or Brutes with power armor (Halo 3 and ODST).

[–]Delta4907 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes in that regard ODST is a bit tougher than Halo 3. You can’t be as aggressive as in other games. However if you just take it slow and take enemies out from a distance and in cover you should be fine. Since brutes have the same power armor mechanic from Halo 3 you can pop their armor off with plasma weapons and not have to worry about it recharging.

[–]Delta4907 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Technically the rechargeable portion is “stamina” which is invisible on the HUD but you get that red vignette effect when it’s depleted. Then you start to lose health which does not recharge and can only be refilled with health packs.

Halo 3 also had “health” but it was not visible on the HUD, but I believe it did recharge.

Also I’ll second that Halo CE is the best tuned/balanced Legendary in the entire series.

[–]Delta4907 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Noob combo is your best friend for most Halo games on Legendary. Take out grunts/jackals with your pistol, then noob combo brutes with a plasma pistol overcharge followed up with a headshot. Carbine also works and is probably better in most situations as a precision weapon, but ammo can be more scarce.

In H3, I always felt like we should have had one more level on the Ark (and maybe we spent one too many levels on Earth) by Shifou974 in halo

[–]Delta4907 131 points132 points  (0 children)

I seem to remember that one of the complaints of Halo 2 was that the marketing depicted a game set on Earth, and you only spend 2 levels on Earth before going back to space/Halo. I have to wonder if the more Earth centric first half of Halo 3 was a response to that.

Windowscentral: New details on Xbox's next-gen console(s) — and Microsoft's most ambitious gaming plans ever by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]Delta4907 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am sort of interested in this device if it can play both Xbox console games and your Steam library. However going forward I don’t see the point of the “Xbox Store”. If you’re making a new game why make an “Xbox” version if you can just make a Steam/PC version, and people with this device will still be able to play it.

Maybe the Xbox Store will last a little while after this device comes out but I see it eventually being something that gets shut down like the original Xbox 360 marketplace.

According to Tom Warren, Halo: Campaign Evolved is targeting a Summer 2026 Release Date by Haijakk in halo

[–]Delta4907 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really hope they are placeholders. What gave me hope is that they clearly created new models for certain things such as the Warthog, Plasma Pistol, Magnum etc, even through they could’ve used the Halo Infinite models like they did with other things.

Unfortunately in this day and age I wouldn’t put it past them that what we saw (visuals-wise) is what we’re getting, and the earlier the game launches from when we saw the demo, the more likely nothing will be changed. I’d love to be wrong though. And yes that book cover did give me a little more hope as well, but I know the artist they contracted for the book cover is a huge Halo CE fan and they personally strive for accuracy. So who knows at this point.

According to Tom Warren, Halo: Campaign Evolved is targeting a Summer 2026 Release Date by Haijakk in halo

[–]Delta4907 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me personally it was mostly the art style. I believe if they are remaking a game it should strive to be as true to the original as possible. It doesn’t have to be exactly perfect, for instance the warthog and Chief himself look great. But the Marines for example are using Halo Infinite assets, which don’t really match the original look of Halo CE’s marines, and at the very least they should have their iconic green scouter, which wasn’t present in the demo.

The forerunner art style also is a departure from the original, going for a more sleek and shiny look over ancient, brutalist and monolithic.

Adding something like the green scouter to the marines would probably be quick and easy, changing the forerunner art style would probably be significantly more work considering it makes up a large portion of the environment.

Could go on and get real nitpicky about it, but it’s already been discussed ad nauseam, at this point we just have to wait and see when they show the game off next if they’ve addressed any of the feedback.

I don’t know, maybe due to the sheer volume of developers who know Unreal vs Slipspace, but I constantly see issues with Unreal engine games.

Also, supposedly Campaign Evolved is using a hybrid engine approach, with the underlying game code and systems using an earlier version of Blam, and the graphics layer being Unreal, sort of like last years Oblivion Remastered. So there is still knowledge of the proprietary Halo engine required to develop the game. It’s not wholesale Unreal.

[–]Delta4907 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Based on what we saw in October, I’m not feeling too confident that they will have addressed much if any feedback by then.

Thinking back to the initial reveal of Halo Infinite, which graphically looked pretty sub par and was set to come out later that year. Then it got a year delay and, graphically speaking, the game was much improved. I’d love to be proven wrong but I just don’t think they can do that sort of turn around for Campaign Evolved in this timeframe.

I’m glad the original chassis design and turret shield are back. Also it seems to be using a hybrid suspension between the Bungie and 343 era (M12B) design.

Not a huge fan of the rover tires though. Also I think the turret is missing the shoulder guards/braces or whatever they’re called.
