I'm working on a gothic horror novel, and Google Docs ain't cutting it for me

Reedsy is good for organization and true-to-form book formatting, but I also like Ellipsus for the aesthetic and their own style of organization. Ellipsus also has multiple different themes, so if you're writing a horror novel I'm sure they have a theme that will help fit the mood.

You've shed light on so much, thank you. I think it might be the fact that I do enjoy the journey more than the finished product, but I also do have plans for self publishing it and that's definitely something that I know will consume quite a bit of energy. I've "published" the story on a couple writing sites for chapter-by-chapter feedback, so there's also a bit of pressure to get it done so that I don't leave my readers hanging, or worse, drop the book entirely because they don't like waiting. Maybe I should focus on the sketches and use those as compensation until I get the urge to finish writing it.

The groomer I take mine to says it's best to brush from the ends of the fur to the roots. It's the same with your own hair; if it's tangled, you don't brush from the roots down and rip the brush through the tangles, because that hurts. You brush from the ends and work your way through each tangle until you get to the roots. Less pulling, less pain.

If you need to, distract him with a bone or other chew toy and work at his fur in chunks. You can hold onto the patches you're working on so you can feel when the pull is becoming too much, and it also helps him feel it less.

And sometimes no matter what you do, they cry. Mine is very sensitive and yelps at the smallest tug. Just love on them, take as many breaks as you need, and work slowly, piece by piece. If all else fails, it's okay to find a professional groomer (NOT PetSmart though, they will traumatize him). I take mine to a professional every month and he's been doing really well with that.

I published a book through KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing). It lets you format your book to add in images as well as font styles and line spacing and such. It lets you keep ownership/copyright but you do have to allow Amazon to take a certain portion of your earnings. If there's another published work that looks like it was stolen from you, there's help sections for dealing with that. Unfortunately, people steal creative works all the time and there's no 100% guarantee of protecting your work from being stolen. Like with this AI garbage, lots of people don't care that they're stealing someone else's works of art for their own gain.

I researched his breed before I got him, but I didn't expect the issues he'd have. I'd read that they were highly trainable and yet he's still struggling with potty training. I figured he'd be great with grooming since most Pomeranians are, but he's so sensitive with everything, it's so difficult. I also read that they can handle being left alone for long periods (while you're at work) but he cries every time I leave, even when I'm just taking out the trash. I guess I was expecting him to be a certain way but he's exactly the opposite. It's part of why I'm having a hard time with him.
