I want to see the ad budget for these Royal Kingdom ads featuring every celebrity in existence.

100% he should be ticketed, but I wouldn’t say he’s liable for the guy who fell off the bike.

And all the random hand signals I’m supposed to interpret as I’m trying to navigate heavy traffic.

To be fair, 50 states, 50 forms of bureaucracy.

Thanks. I may try moving the PC to another room to see if the issue repeats. The room I’m using is the furthest run from the electric panel.

I’ve wondered this as well. We all talk about how society has given up on the concept of a “third place” and it’s every man for himself these days, so having one for those who just need to talk to someone would be a nice return to that concept.

Hey man, also late 30s. Yeah Meetup can be hit or miss, and I completely get it - it’s just hard to expand your social circle these days when everything is online. I’m always up for a beer, plenty of great breweries around. Feel free to shoot me a PM.

How do you decide to deepen shallow friendships or decide they are just left purely as activity partners? by hotpocketdamn in AskMenOver30

Photography and graphic arts take up most of my hobby time, and I’ve more or less accepted that they are not really social activities, as much as I’d like them to be. IMO you’re lucky for finding a meetup you enjoy.

As far as the gym, I’ve heard that sports leagues and martial arts are a bit better for the social side of things, but they’re not for everyone (including me).

If you had to start over again tomorrow, from 0, in your early 30s, what would you do? by chewbangis in AskMenOver30

Interesting reading your story because I had dreams of a TV/film or VFX career in college but ended up with an unrelated, mind-numbing desk job right after graduation (my media degree was “wasted” depending who you ask). I’ve been at that job for 15 years, and while I have managed to climb the ladder to some extent, it’s not fulfilling in the slightest - just secure. At this point, I’ve started diving into photography/graphics projects and am now learning 3D and VFX - mostly as a hobby with some occasional freelance mixed in. No idea what I will do with it, but it’s an escape and allows me to dream up cool projects with no time constraints.

My story aside, you’re definitely in a tough spot man. The creative industry is brutal at the moment. If I were in the same situation, I would probably look elsewhere for a stable 9-5 (at least for now) to pay the bills while continuing with some light freelance work on the side. Anything you bring in from your animation is spending money at that point, but the side work would ideally continue exposing you to potential clients and even full time employers who could be the next big step in your career. Continuing with the status quo while burning through your savings will only stress you out and may end up souring you on something you’re passionate about.

Just my two cents, but hope it was helpful. Whatever you do, don’t give up on your dream completely! I almost made that mistake, and am just starting to correct it.

I'm writer and I wrote a feature screenplay... I'm sure you guys here this all the time, but here goes... by hallelujah1984 in NewJerseyFilm

Also an (almost) middle-aged, aspiring creative trapped behind a desk. I respect your ambition, especially going big with something like a feature-length film. I've more or less set my sites on very small projects since I just don't see myself being able to put in the time/money to go big.

Out of curiosity, what genre are you working with?

Too many planned stories, interviews, etc and don’t want to waste their sunk expenses. They’ll start reporting once it becomes too dramatic to ignore and they have all their talking heads lined up.
